Jyotiraditya M Scindia, along with Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Shri Pema Khandu, is set to inaugurate the upgraded infrastructure at Tezu Airport on September 24. The Tezu Airport, nestled in the town of Tezu, is a domestic airport that boasts a single runway and spans across 212 acres of land.
This modernization project, undertaken by the Airport Authority of India (AAI), was initiated in response to the state government's request and has been executed at a cost of Rs 170 crore.
The project encompasses significant improvements, including the extension of the runway to 1500m x 30m dimensions, the construction of a new apron to accommodate two ATR 72 aircraft, a state-of-the-art terminal building, and a consolidated fire station and air traffic control tower.
Tezu Airport started operations in 2018, under the Ministry of Civil Aviation's RCS UDAN scheme. Currently, the airport offers regular scheduled flights to key destinations such as Dibrugarh, Imphal, and Guwahati, facilitated by Alliance Air and Flybig Airline.
