US Federal Reserve left the benchmark interest rates unchanged and indicated it to remain higher for longer, Indian equity indices opened in the red for the third consecutive session on Thursday.
The BSE Sensex was trading 309 points or 0.46% lower at 66,492.
Nifty50 was trading at 19,819, down 82 points or 0.41% at around 9.23 am.
The US Federal Reserve announced its interest rate decision after a two-day FOMC meeting and left the benchmark interest rates unchanged at 5.25% — 5.50%.
From the Sensex pack, HCL Tech, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, UltraTech Cement and Nestle opened with cuts, while only Sun Pharma, SBI, Bajaj Finance, and NTPC opened with gains.
