MUMBAI : Amid last month’s stock market breakout, Indians purchased the largest quantity of sovereign gold bonds (SGBs) at 7.77 tonnes worth a whopping ₹4,604 crore in the first series of this fiscal year, underscoring the preference for an asset that acts as a hedge against inflation and a safe-haven asset at times of global uncertainty. The SGB scheme, run by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on behalf of the government, has seen an average subscription of 1.72 tonnes across 64 series in the seven years and seven months since its introduction as an alternative to physical gold in 2015.

Nifty IT index delivered a bullish breakout and pushed above a critical moving average, signalling positive trend, says Rupak De, Senior Technical analyst at LKP Securities. The bullish crossover on the momentum indicator RSI further confirms the upward momentum. “Based on these factors, it is recommended to maintain investments in tech stocks for the short term, as they are expected to continue their upward movement in the coming days,” he says.

Best-performing Mid Cap Mutual Funds in 3 years ( till July 14, 2023): A majority of Mid Cap Mutual Fund schemes have performed well in three years. As per data on the website of Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI) at the time of writing, as many as 10 mid-cap funds have given over 34% returns under their direct plans. The regular plans of these schemes have also given over 32% returns.

Container Corporation of India (CONCOR) will be excluded from the derivatives segment, effective September 29, NSE said in a circular late Friday. The existing contracts of expiry months July, August and September would continue to be available for trading till their respective expiry and new strikes would also be introduced in the existing contract months, the exchange said. “However, no contracts will be available for trading in the security with effect from September 29,” NSE said.
