DCM Shriram Industries(down 2.21%), K.M.Sugar Mills(down 0.58%), MAGADHSUGAR(down 0.24%) and EID Parry(down 0.20%) were among the top losers of the day.

Bandhan Bank's Q1 results, Managing Director Chandra Shekhar Ghosh, told reporters that India is unlikely to hike interest rates due to the current state of the inflation numbers. «Despite disruption of monsoon, the gradual improvement in rural demand may continue. Rising for the second straight session, the BSE benchmark Sensex advanced 502 points or 0.77% to close above 66,000-mark. NSE Nifty surged 151 points or 0.78% to end at 19,564.

Tata Consultancy Services Ltd and HCL Technologies Ltd reporting subdued numbers. Peer Wipro Ltd was no exception as slowdown in discretionary technology spends by clients weighed on its revenue growth.  Wipro's IT services revenues declined 2.8% sequentially, in constant currency terms, lower than Street’s expectations as well as competitors'. The decline was across geographies, indicating a broad-based impact.
