J.P.Morgan analysts expect investors to parse upcoming second-quarter results and commentary from Indian IT companies for signs of recovery in deal signings in fiscal 2025 following a «washout» year. «We remain negative on the sector as we haven't seen a meaningful uptick in demand in our recent checks.

Marico(down 4.98%), Nakoda Group(down 3.23%), Vadilal Industries(down 3.13%), Hatsun Agro Product Ltd(down 2.83%), Umang Dairies(down 2.20%), Emami(down 1.53%), Jyothy Labs(down 1.42%), Godrej Consumer Products(down 1.40%), Dodla Dairy(down 1.02%) and Prataap Snacks(down 0.86%) were among the top losers of the day.

Transformers and Rectifiers(India)(up 7.78%), Gujarat Industries Power(up 5.09%), Suzlon Energy(up 4.98%), Orient Green Power Company(up 4.69%), RTNPOWER(up 4.62%), Voltamp Transformers(up 4.22%), SJVN(up 3.71%), Karma Energy(up 3.35%), Jaiprakash Power Ventures(up 2.62%) and Inox Wind Energy(up 2.35%) stood among the top gainers. Power & Instrumentation(Gujarat)(down 4.04%), Alstom T&D India(down 3.12%), Adani Power(down 1.67%), JSW Energy(down 1.29%), ADANIGREEN(down 1.26%), GE Power India Limited(down 1.24%), Power Grid Corporation of India(down 1.21%), DPSC(down 0.90%), Kalpataru Projects International(down 0.87%) and Hitachi Energy India(down 0.71%) were among the top losers of the day.

On the BSE, Baid Leasing(down 12.81 per cent), Smruthi Org(down 7.58 per cent), Naturo Indiabull(down 7.48 per cent), Kalyani Steels(down 6.83 per cent) and Adjia Technologies(down 6.25 per cent) stood among the top losers in today's trade. In the Nifty pack, 31 stocks closed in the green, while 18 stocks ended in the red.

Shares of Au Small Finance Bank Ltd.(up 1.53 per cent), ICICI Bank Ltd.(up 1.16 per cent), State Bank of India(up 1.0 per cent), Axis Bank Ltd.(up 0.77 per cent) and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd.(up 0.7 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack. On the other hand, Punjab National Bank(down 3.32 per cent), Bandhan Bank Ltd.(down 1.81 per cent) and Federal Bank Ltd.(down 1.18 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The 30-share BSE benchmark Sensex advanced 405 points or 0.62% to settle at 65,631. The broader NSE Nifty surged 110 points or 0.56% to end at 19,546. The market capitalisation of all listed companies on BSE increased by Rs 1.21 lakh crore to Rs 317.87 lakh crore.

Shares of Pfizer Ltd.(up 1.11 per cent), Sanofi India Ltd.(up 0.98 per cent), Laurus Labs Ltd.(up 0.88 per cent), Ipca Laboratories Ltd.(up 0.59 per cent) and Zydus Lifesciences Ltd.(up 0.26 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack. On the other hand, Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(down 1.72 per cent), Granules India Ltd.(down 1.44 per cent), GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(down 1.3 per cent), Torrent Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(down 0.72 per cent) and Aurobindo Pharma Ltd.(down 0.57 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty index ended the session 109.65 points up at 19545.75, while BSE Sensex rose 405.53 points to 65631.57. In the Nifty index, Larsen & Toubro Ltd.(up 2.26 per cent), Bajaj Auto Ltd.(up 1.88 per cent), Titan Company Ltd.(up 1.57 per cent), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(up 1.46 per cent) and Infosys Ltd.(up 1.32 per cent) stood among the top gainers.

Falling crude oil prices and gains in domestic equity markets also supported the rupee. Brent futures fell 0.97% to $84.98 a barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate crude (WTI) declined 1.12% to $83.28.

Nifty 50 today: Key domestic equity indices the Nifty 50 and the Sensex snapped their two-day losing run on Thursday amid mixed global cues ahead of the monetary policy meeting outcome on Friday. The three-day Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is underway. RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das will announce the outcome tomorrow.

Godrej Consumer Products Ltd. traded 1.4 per cent down in Thursday's trade at 01:49PM (IST). Around 8,848 shares changed hands on the counter.

SBI Cards and Payment Services Ltd. slipped 0.91 per cent to Rs 785.1 in Thursday's trade. It hit a high of Rs 799.0 and low of Rs 784.4 during the session.

Tata Elxsi Ltd. rose 0.16 per cent to Rs 7264.9 in Thursday's trade. It hit an intraday high of Rs 7316.7 and low of Rs 7232.0, respectively, during the day.

Goldman Sachs Group Inc. “The sharp rally since end-March, expensive valuations and global macro risks (high oil, high US rates, strong dollar) warrant a tactically conservative stance over the next three to six months,” analysts including Sunil Koul and Amorita Goel wrote in a note. While this year’s surge in equity markets makes for a great backdrop for Prime Minister Narendra Modi — who is seeking a third term in office — a sense of caution is building. Goldman’s view comes as overseas investors sold $2.3 billion worth of Indian stocks on a net basis in September, following six months of inflows. The polls are likely to have a bearing on economic policy and reforms at a time the world’s fastest-growing major economy is increasingly seen as an alternative to China. Goldman retained its market-weight stance on India in early July, from where the Nifty 50 Index has remained little changed.

Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals Ltd. traded 0.34 per cent down at Rs 301.05 on Thursday at around 11:57AM (IST), while the benchmark BSE Sensex advanced 458.16 points to 65684.2. As many as 7,574 shares changed hands on the counter with a total value of Rs 0.23 crore.

On the BSE, Square Four Project(down 9.38 per cent), Anjani Finance(down 9.24 per cent), Alkosign Ltd.(down 8.05 per cent), Baid Leasing(down 6.83 per cent) and Naturo Indiabull(down 6.23 per cent) were among the stocks that plunged over 5 per cent during the session. In the Nifty pack, 37 stocks traded in the green, while 13 stocks traded in the red.

Domestic benchmark index NSE Nifty gained 138.05 points to 19574.15, while the BSE Sensex traded 513.45 points up at 65739.49. On the other hand, SoftTech Engineers, Murudeshwar Cera, Goodluck India, Utkarsh Small Financ and RKEC Projects stocks hit their fresh 52-week highs today.

Sobha jumped 4% to the day's high of 688 on the NSE in Thursday's trade after the real estate company said that it recorded its highest-ever sales of Rs 1,724 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2023. The sales surged 48% year-on-year (YoY), the company said in its filing to the exchanges.

Rama Phosphates(up 6.20%), KRISHANA(up 2.86%), Coromandel International(up 1.98%), Khaitan Chemicals & Fertilizers(up 1.65%), Sikko Industries(up 1.55%), Madhya Bharat Agro Products(up 1.36%), Fertilizers & Chemicals Tranvancore(up 0.97%), Nagarjuna Fertilizers & Chem(up 0.60%), National Fertilizer(up 0.57%) and Chambal Fertilisers & Chemicals(up 0.53%) were among the top gainers. Mangalore Chemicals & Fertilizers(down 1.54%), Agro Phos(down 1.42%), ZUARIAGRO(down 0.87%) and Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers (down 0.13%) were among the top losers.

₹80.70 against the previous close of ₹79.75 and touched the intraday high and low of ₹81.05 and ₹77.20 on NSE in trade so far. Around 10:25 am, PNB share price traded 3.07 per cent lower at ₹77.30 on NSE. PNB share price has clocked a robust gain in the last one year, strongly outperforming the Nifty PSU Bank index, Nifty Bank index and the benchmark Nifty 50.

Indian Hotels Company Ltd. gained 2.18 per cent to Rs 415.75 in Thursday's trade as of 10:05AM (IST). It hit a high of Rs 416.8 and low of Rs 408.05 during the session.
