ESG jobs in finance: bracing for the Trump effect, or not
Not so long ago, environmental, social and governance (ESG) jobs were all the rage in banking and finance. In the years after the pandemic, they carried a 20% pay premium and there was talk of a skills gap: in 2020, CFA Institute found that 18% of portfolio manager jobs wanted ESG skills, but that only 1.5% of portfolio managers had them. Buffing a CV with ESG seemed like a no-brainer.

False data on Goa tourism a cause of concern: Minister
Goa's tourism numbers being circulated on social media platforms is a cause of 'significant concern' among local communities and investors and stakeholders of Goa, and the state government has registered a formal complaint to take cognizance of the matter, said Rohan A Khaunte, minister for tourism, information technology, electronics and communications and printing and stationary for Goa, in an interview with ET. Khaunte said an influx of tourism in any destination brings with it a set of issues and concerns and the state is working with trade bodies to address issues around high rates in the year end season besides allaying concerns around public transportation. The state is also working on boosting connectivity from Southeast Asian markets and other European countries, he said.

Fixing the fault in our stars

The moment he realised he’d called it wrong and Donald Trump was going to be the next US President, the “Nostradamus of US elections" Allan Lichtman held his head in his hands and declared that “democracy is gone". He’d got nine elections right in the past based on a model of reading historical patterns, but it’s certainly telling that so many people placed so much stock in his placid belief (despite the misogyny of the average American) that Kamala Harris would win.

US election results: War within Democratic Party? Joe Biden blasted by Kamala Harris allies
Joe Biden's name wasn't on the ballot, but history will likely remember Kamala Harris' resounding defeat as his loss too. As Democrats pick up the pieces after President-elect Donald Trump's decisive victory, some of the vice president's backers are expressing frustration that Biden's decision to seek reelection until this summer — despite long-standing voter concerns about his age and unease about post-pandemic inflation as well as the U.S.-Mexico border — all but sealed his party's surrender of the White House, as per an AP report.
