In a rare sight, supporters of the two clubs held each other's flags and raised slogans demanding justice for the victim's family, with a huge contingent of the police keeping a vigil on the situation. Karnataka Governor’s sanction for prosecution: CM to move High Court on Monday, Congress to hold state-wide protests
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will move the high court on Monday questioning the grant of permission to prosecute him by Governor Thawarchand Gehlot in a case of allotment of sites to his wife in Mysuru as the Congress has decided to raise the pitch of its campaign against the BJP. The ruling party will hold state-wide protest demonstrations against the Governor’s action on Monday. Deputy CM DK Shivakumar, who is also the president of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), said the party workers and leaders will hold rallies in all district headquarters. RG Kar incident: 25 people held for vandalising property, police say
Kolkata Police in connection with the RG Kar vandalism incident, Police Commissioner Vineet Goyel said on Friday. He urged all citizens and all political parties to come up with information about the miscreants behind the vandalism. Goyel urged the media and the people to not pay heed to the rumour mongering which has been going on over the rape and murder of a PG medical student of the hospital and the vandalism incident. The Police Commissioner accepted that there was «failure of assessment» about the crowd size on the 'Reclaim the Night' which was meant to be peaceful. He said, «So many women and people had come from various parts of the city and it was difficult to assess the size of the crowd.» «If you call it a failure of assessment, yes it was. The entire protest was supposed to be peaceful. We are human beings. We also make assessments based on available resources. There was so much security in the location. ACP-I was also present,» he said. " During the 'Reclaim the Night' protest, there were gatherings and spontaneous crowds which had come, with no specific leaders. How many people will gather could not be assessed. We had to deploy our resources throughout the city while a fairly large contingent had assembled at the RG Kar hospital," the Commissioner said.

Power of sacred spaces
Divine. The idea of temples and deities came into the picture, driven more by human tendencies towards materialism. The focus shifted from inner worship to external rituals. In today's fast-paced world, the idea of having a dedicated space for meditation or contemplation becomes even more relevant. But let's clarify something: no place is inherently holier than another. It's about creating a kind of biological automatism. Think about it this way: when you walk into your kitchen, your mind automatically associates the space with eating, and you might even feel a bit hungry, especially if it's mealtime. The same principle applies to having a dedicated space for meditation. When you consistently meditate in the same spot, your mind and body start to recognise that space as a cue to relax, focus and go inward. A meditation space is any space that is calm and clean where you can tune into yourself. A sacred space for worship or meditation is that space where we can connect with our true nature, bringing balance and peace to our lives.

Unity in diversity: It’s India’s only realistic path to success
The late British prime minister Winston Churchill infamously remarked, “India is merely a geographical expression. It is no more a single country than the Equator." The pugilistic Churchill, no friend of India, seldom hid his distaste for Indians, referring to us once as “beastly people." Ignorance levels have dropped since. Today, we are widely known for what we are: a rainbow nation of mind-boggling diversity, a blend of ethnicities, a profusion of mutually incomprehensible languages, and a host of religions, cultural practices and topographies.

Celebrating 78 years of Independence: The history behind India’s national flag and significance of tricolour
Independence Day of India approaches on August 15, the sight of the Tricolour, India's national flag, fluttering in the wind evokes memories of the sacrifices made by freedom fighters and celebrates the unity and diversity of the nation. The national flag, widely seen in shops and streets ahead of this day, symbolizes India's strength, peace, and prosperity. The flag in its current form was adopted on July 22, 1947, during a meeting of the Constituent Assembly, becoming the official flag on August 15, 1947. The design of the flag, often attributed to Pingali Venkayya, features three colours: saffron, white, and green. Saffron signifies the strength and courage of the country, white represents peace, and green symbolizes fertility, prosperity, and the auspiciousness of the land. A navy-blue wheel, known as the Ashok Chakra, is centered in the white band, symbolizing truth and life with its 24 spokes representing continuous progress. «It reminds us of the sacrifices made by countless freedom fighters and the enduring spirit of unity and diversity that binds us together.»
