UPS Racing Lawson Oscar performer track Japanese Grand Prix: Jack Doohan crashes, McLaren's Oscar Piastri takes top spot in second practice session
Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka were disrupted by multiple red flags due to crashes and track fires, with McLaren driver Oscar Piastri clocking the fastest time to emerge at the top. Alpine team's Jack Doohan was involved in a crash which led to a brief stoppage in the practice session. New Zealand's Liam Lawson, recently demoted to Racing Bulls, outperformed Red Bull's Yuki Tsunoda, who had replaced him. Alpine driver Jack Doohan crashed at the 160mph at the first corner during the second practice session after failing to deactivate his DRS. Team principal Oliver Oakes attributed the incident to «a misjudgement» and a «something to learn from.» The crash caused significant damage to Doohan's car but he escaped without any injuries. “It was a heavy one, something that caught me by surprise, and I will learn from it. I know the team has a lot of work ahead to repair the car,” said the Formula One driver after checking with his team. The DRS issue arose because Doohan lifted off the throttle but didn’t brake, causing the DRS to remain open. This reduced downforce, leading to the spin and subsequent crash. Doohan was participating in only his fourth F1 race, and his car had been driven by reserve driver Ryo Hirakawa in the first practice session.

FIVE Racing Oscar performer track country sprint F1's Japanese GP has storylines that may be as fleeting as the country's cherry blossoms
Japanese Grand Prix on Sunday is only the third Formula 1 race of the season, and several plots are developing that promise a few twists. But the fresh storylines could be as fleeting as the cherry blossoms seen all over Japan at this time of the year. There's McLaren, which has been the early force after winning the first two races. Are Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri about to run away with the season just as Red Bull and Max Verstappen have in winning the last four drivers' titles? How about seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton, who moved this season from Mercedes and is looking for his first victory for Ferrari. He won the sprint two weekends ago in Shanghai. In Sunday's main race in China, he and teammate Charles Leclerc were disqualified for technical infringements. And back to the cherry blossoms in Japan — the season typically lasts for only about two weeks, from the initial blooms to its splendorous peak. A sellout crowd of about 115,000 on Sunday at Suzuka — the Honda-operated track in central Japan — will be following every lap of Japanese driver Yuki Tsunoda. Tsunoda was promoted to Red Bull last week from Racing Bulls, its feeder team. A Japanese driver has never won an F1 race.

Provident Ball Matthews WhatsApp performer IPL 2025 LSG vs MI head to head stats: Where do Hardik Panya's paltan and Rishabh Pant's men stand against each other
India captain Rohit's form with the bat has put the MI team management in a tight spot. The same is for LSG skipper Pant whose extended dry run is not helping matters for the home side. With both the teams almost identically placed with a solitary win each in three games, the contest could boil down to who exploits the conditions better on the day. Given that the curators haven't been providing tailor-made pitches to the home sides — something that has caused frustration of the coaches and players in some franchises — the team that gets a head-start with the bat or ball in the power play overs could call the shots. The prolonged absence of MI pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah due to injury and the management maintaining a stoic silence on his return is only adding to the frustration of the Hardik Pandya-led side.

COST Boxing film Actor performer reports Elon Musk-headed DOGE should look into $250m budget for Snow White, suggests Joe Rogan
Joe Rogan has ridiculed Disney’s Snow White remake after its disappointing box office debut. He suggested that Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) should probe its production costs. The film, as per reports, had a budget of around $250 million but earned just $43 million at its opening weekend across the United States and Canada. In the second week of its running, the film saw a steep decline of 66 per cent in viewers. The film has become one of Disney’s biggest box office failures in recent years. As per reports, during an episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, comedian Kurt Metzger joined Rogan in dissecting the film’s downfall. Playing the footage of CGI dwarfs, Rogan said that it looked bad and did not look real at all. Responding to his comments, Metzger said that the makers put it all on the lead actor, Rachel Zegler. He said that her performance might not have been great, but that she’s young. He commented that Zegler did not write the script and that she did not decide to remove the dwarves. He added that Peter Dinklage did.

markets CEO Strategy Experts performer track Should I continue my mutual fund SIPs or stop and remain invested for another year?
I have been investing in Quant Active, Quant Small Cap, Quant Momentum, and Quant Flexi Cap funds, via SIPs, since last year. My investment horizon is over 10 years. The funds’ performance has slipped over the past two quarters (over the second half of 2024). Should I continue my SIPs or stop and remain invested for another year? Sumit Duseja, Co-founder & CEO, Truemind Capital (Sebi-registered investment adviser: Quant mutual fund schemes mostly operate on a momentum strategy. The major problem with the momentum strategy is that when it works, the returns are way above the benchmark, but when it doesn’t work, the returns plummet sharply. Therefore, the performance is good only during specific periods of bull market, resulting in inconsistent performance, accompanied by high volatility. Ideally, one should select schemes with consistent performance track records across bull and bear markets. The investment philosophy of the fund house should be simple, clear and transparent. Additionally, you should diversify across mutual fund schemes from different fund houses. Selecting all the schemes from a single fund house puts you at risk with all your schemes underperforming if something goes wrong with the fund house. You can stop your SIPs in the schemes from Quant and restart the SIPs with fund houses that have a proven and consistent track record of at least 15 years.
