Soon, Delhi may have a daily Yamuna Aarti on Vasudev Ghat, similar to Mathura, Haridwar and Varanasi
Yamuna Aarti at Vasudev Ghat, similar to the famous Ganga Aarti in Varanasi. The beautification and restoration work at the ghat is nearing completion, with silt removal currently in progress. Spread over 16 hectares, Vasudev Ghat is part of DDA's initiative to rejuvenate 66 hectares of ghats along the Yamuna riverbank from Wazirabad to the Old Railway Bridge, a TOI report stated. The Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, VK Saxena, is expected to inaugurate Vasudev Ghat on Tuesday. The horticulture, walkway, and restoration work at the ghat are almost complete. The main focus now is on clearing the silt so that the river water can reach the steps constructed at the bank, allowing the Aarti to be performed regularly. An MoU has already been signed with an organization that will conduct the Aarti every evening. Vasudev Ghat is a unique project among the ongoing restoration and rejuvenation projects of the Yamuna floodplains. It not only features green lawns, a 3-km cycling track, and a walking area, but also showcases a historic look with captivating artwork. The landscaping at the ghat has been done in the Charbagh style, incorporating elements like baradaris and chhatris inspired by the adjacent Qudsia Bagh garden.

Job market signalling: What it is, how to apply it to stand out in the job market
education’. The real question is why an employer hires an economics graduate in product design, or a civil engineer in marketing. Michael Spence received the Nobel prize for his Harvard thesis, where he proposed the idea of job market signalling, a foundational concept in labour economics. Here’s how to understand the way employers read signals, and apply this to stand out. Education Individuals acquire credentials or education not necessarily because it will help them contribute directly to work productivity, but because these signal a higher ability to potential employers and help land better jobs. Most valuable education courses have either entry or exit barriers. So, tough entrance exams like JEE, NEET and CAT are a high entry barrier to top institutes, and clearing chartered accountancy exams is a high exit barrier. The tougher the course, the stronger the signal for the job market, and better returns in compensation. A clear hierarchy plays out in course and college selection. It’s no surprise that, on an average, STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) degrees from institutes that are tough to get into, signal higher capability and result in above-average salaries. Use this idea to conduct a cost-benefit analysis of academic qualifications that you choose to pursue.

Should you invest in thematic mutual fund NFOs? 6 factors to keep in mind
ABSL Mutual Fund launched a thematic fund, providing investors a way to play the emerging ‘manufacturing’ theme. Fast forward nine years and the investors who stayed the course find the thematic fund’s 12.5% return since inception lower than the broader market return for the respective period. Thematic new fund offers (NFOs) make a tantalising proposition—targeted exposure to specific themes. But do these funds truly perform? Statistically, funds like ABSL Manufacturing that didn’t do well form 36% of the thematic NFOs launched in the past 10 years. A higher 64% have done better than the overall market since launch, an ET Wealth study shows. Game of themes The reason for AMCs coming up with more thematic NFOs in recent years has been largely due to the regulatory cap of a single fund per category. However, funds can have any number of unique themes. Between 2014 and 2017, there were only six thematic equity NFOs (actively managed), but in the 2018-23 period, 55 new funds came into the market. Buoyant markets have helped. With equities giving double-digit returns in four of these six years, thematic funds have easily attracted eyeballs.

Ranji Trophy: Sachin Tendulkar slams Mumbai batters as Shreyas Iyer, Ajinkya Rahane flop
Sachin Tendulkar, the demi-god of Indian cricket, on Sunday criticized the way Mumbai batters played against Vidarbha in the final of the Ranji Trophy at the Wankhede Stadium. Tendulkar was left disappointed at the batting performance of Mumbai as the home team suffered a middle-order collapse, which included another flop show from skipper Ajinkya Rahane and Shreyas Iyer despite a strong opening partnership between Prithvi Shaw and Bhupen Lalwani. Prithvi Shaw and Bhupen Lalwani gave Mumbai a strong start with an 81-run stand before Yash Thakur dismissed Lalwani.

Toyota's hybrid-first strategy is delivering big profits
Toyota Motor. Not long ago, it looked as if Toyota had fallen dangerously behind in electric vehicles. Tesla, the electric car pioneer, has grown rapidly and become the world's most valuable automaker. Seeing Tesla's success, other companies, such as General Motors and Ford Motor, concluded that large numbers of consumers were poised to switch to battery-powered cars and trucks and began investing tens of billions of dollars to catch up. Toyota, however, was more deliberate — or lethargic, its critics would say. It has introduced just two fully electric models in the United States so far, betting that its gas-electric hybrids and plug-in hybrid vehicles, which it has become known for, would remain popular and were sufficient to address climate change for now.
