Other actors who have played Doctor Who have praised the selection of Gatwa as the lead character of the show. Colin Baker, Paul McGann, and Christopher Eccleston have supported Gatwa on their social media platforms. Sylvester McCoy has issued a video praising Gatwa. Though Gatwa met Smith accidentally and hinted at his role in Doctor Who, the actor praised him. Other and earlier actors portraying Doctor Who have set a positive note for the sci-fi series.
