Adani Power Ltd. traded at Rs 240.7 on BSE at 01:28PM (IST) on Wednesday, down 1.39 per cent from previous close. The stock quoted a 52-week low price of Rs 132.55 and a high of Rs 432.8.

Adani Group may face intense competition for Vidarbha Industries Power Ltd which operates 600-megawatt generation facilities in central India, the report added. Adani Group's successful bid for the power plant would add to its expanding portfolio of coal power projects.

Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday approved two 'Obra D' thermal power projects of 800 MW each to be built at the cost of Rs 18,000 crore in Sonbhadra's Obra, a move aimed at providing cheaper electricity to the people of state. The 'Obra D' thermal power plants were approved in the Cabinet meeting presided by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanah, an official statement issued here said. The projects will be executed by the government with a 50:50 partnership with central government-owned power generator NTPC.

Government of Meghalaya and NTPC Limited have signed a series of Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) aimed at enhancing the power scenario in Meghalaya. According to the new norms, each captive power user, even in a group captive structure has to hold 26% ownership in the captive generating plant.

New Delhi: Power generation in India rose 2.21% in June as demand scaled new highs during the month marked by soaring temperatures. Data from the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) showed power generation rose to 127.16 billion units or 127167.28 Gigawatt hour (Gwh) last month from 124.42 billion units a year earlier. Thermal power generation rose 3.39% to 109.20 billion units while hydro power generation increased 1.35% to 14.13 billion units.
