Biden and Trump notch wins in Tuesday's primaries. Other races will offer hints on national politics
Joe Biden and Donald Trump won their party's primaries in Illinois on Tuesday, notching more delegates as they continue their march to a rematch in this November's presidential election. Biden, a Democrat, and Trump, a Republican, also easily won primaries Tuesday in Ohio. Trump also won Florida's Republican primary. There was no contest for Biden to win in Florida as Democrats there canceled their primary and opted to award all 224 of their delegates to him, a move that has precedence for an incumbent president. Trump and Biden are also expected to easily win primaries Tuesday in Arizona and Kansas, banking more support after becoming their parties' presumptive nominees last week.

No alternative for Rafah invasion, Benjamin Netanyahu says, as rift with US grows
Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel on Tuesday brushed aside President Joe Biden's opposition to a planned ground invasion of Rafah, a city in the southern Gaza Strip, saying that his government would press ahead despite pleas for restraint from the United States and key allies. Netanyahu made the remarks to Israeli lawmakers a day after speaking by phone with Biden, who reiterated his stance against an offensive into Rafah, arguing that it could be disastrous for the people there and that Israel had other ways of achieving its objective of defeating Hamas.

SC refuses interim stay on CAA rules
Supreme Court on Tuesday refused to grant an interim stay on the implementation of the Citizenship (Amendment) Rules of 2024 which effectively brought into force the Citizenship Amendment Act, 2019. A bench headed by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, however, issued notice to the central government on a slew of interim applications, as many as 20, seeking a stay on the implementation of the rules. The Centre has been given three weeks to respond to the petitions. The batch of petitions will come up for resumed hearing on April 9. Appearing on behalf of the Centre, solicitor general Tushar Mehta told the bench that CAA «does not take away citizenship of any individual». He added that it would be wholly wrong and «misleading» to equate CAA with the National Register of Citizens.

Lalu's daughter Rohini Acharya being considered for nomination from Saran Lok Sabha seat: RJD leader
Lalu Prasad's daughter Rohini Acharya, who is based in Singapore, is being considered for a Lok Sabha ticket from the Saran seat, earlier represented by her father, a senior party leader said on Tuesday. RJD MLC Sunil Kumar Singh, who is known to be treated by Prasad's wife Rabri Devi as her own brother, said the party leadership has been apprised of the overwhelming public sentiment in Saran. Singh, who had recently raised many eyebrows when he openly pitched for Acharya on social media, said, «It was not just my view. All our sitting and former legislators in Saran are of the view that Rohini, and none else, should be the RJD candidate.» He said Acharya enjoyed respect on account of her «sacrifice», a reference to her having donated a kidney to her ailing father.

Brazil news: Ex-President Jair Bolsonaro indicted for giving false Covid-19 vaccination data
Brazilian Supreme Court today released the federal police's indictment that alleges the former president and 16 others in his close circle provided false information into the public health database to make it appear as if they had received the COVID-19 vaccine during the pandemic. The indictment comes one year after the federal police searched Bolsonaro’s residence to investigate if the former president and his close circle provided false data into the health ministry’s database as proof of vaccination ahead of international trips.

Democrats Turn Against Israel
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Sunday that “no international pressure will stop us from realizing all of the goals of the war: Eliminating Hamas, freeing all of our hostages and ensuring that Gaza never again constitutes a threat to Israel." That this is interpreted as a challenge to President Biden speaks volumes about the shift in U.S. policy toward Israel. The joke around Jerusalem is that while Mr.

Location (Data) Is Everything for Retailers Opening Stores
When executives at retailer Untuckit considered locations for a new store on Long Island, N.Y., they initially dismissed a location they felt was too close to an existing store at the Roosevelt Field mall. Then the men’s apparel brand saw the cellphone data. It showed the two locations were drawing customers from opposite ends of Long Island, convincing them that if they were to add a store at the second mall, it wouldn’t cannibalize the first.
