President Joe Biden is going into his third State of the Union address with an expanded plan to raise corporate taxes

USD 200 billion this year and huge opportunities exist for the two countries to expand cooperation in defence, space besides critical emerging technologies like semiconductors and artificial intelligence, said American Ambassador Eric Garcetti on Thursday. The US is proud to be India's No. 1 trading partner with two-way trade reaching nearly USD 200 billion last year, Garcetti told reporters in Indore. «I think this year we will break the (previous) record of USD 200 billion in bilateral trade (between India and the US),» he said. The envoy asserted that US President Joe Biden in the past had emphasized that trade between India and America should rise to the level of USD 500 billion given the potential for expansion. Efforts are on achieve this goal, said the Ambassador who took charge of his new diplomatic assignment last year.

Vehicle registrations — a proxy for retail sales — increased in healthy double-digits by 13% to over two million units last month amid better supplies and sustained consumer demand across rural and urban markets. While sales of two-wheelers went up by 13.25% to 1,439,523 units in the month under consideration, those of three-wheelers rose 23.88% to 94,918 units. “The 2W market's 13% YoY growth was driven by the rural sector, premium model demand, and strong entry-level segment performance, with broader product availability and compelling offers enhancing product acceptance. Factors like favourable marriage dates and improved economic conditions also contributed to this positive growth”, Singhania informed.

Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra entered Gujarat from neighbouring Rajasthan on Thursday and the Congress leader was given a welcome by local leaders and workers of his party as well as the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). The yatra reached Jhalod town of Dahod district in Gujarat from Rajasthan around 4.45 pm. People, who gathered at the spot to welcome the Wayanad MP, shouted slogans hailing him. Many of them even tried to click selfies with the Congress leader. Gujarat Congress in-charge Mukul Wasnik, state unit president Shaktisinh Gohil, leader of opposition Amit Chavda and others were present to welcome Gandhi. The state Congress had also invited AAP leaders to join the yatra as both these parties will be fighting the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Gujarat as part of the INDIA bloc. AAP's state unit president Isudan Gadhvi and its leader Gopal Italia were present to welcome Gandhi.

coordination committee will be formed in a day or two for the joint campaign of the Congress and the AAP in the national capital, Delhi Congress president Arvinder Singh Lovely said on Thursday. Speaking to PTI, Lovely said a panel under the chairmanship of former Delhi Congress president Subhash Chopra will be formed and several former Delhi ministers will be a part of it. The Congress and the AAP are constituents of the INDIA bloc formed by opposition parties to take on the BJP in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. While the AAP will contest on four seats in Delhi, the Congress will fight on three. «Congress and AAP will definitely campaign together for the Lok Sabha elections in Delhi. We will form a coordination committee under the chairmanship of Subhash Chopra in a day or two and all former ministers will be a part of it. They will coordinate the campaigns and public meetings of both the parties,» Lovely told PTI.
