AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal will be arrested if found flouting the law and continuing with Magical practices: Assam CM
Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday warned All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) chief Badruddin Ajmal that he would be arrested if found flouting the law and continuing with Magical practices.
State assembly recently passed Assam Healing (Prevention of Evil) Practices Bill, 2024 in assembly that bans non-scientific healing practices in the state.
Sarma said, “If he (Badruddin Ajmal) will do healing practices, he will be arrested. What I will say, will happen. I am not speaking about myself, I am speaking about the Assembly,” Sarma said.
“You don't listen to Himanta Biswa Sarma's words, but you will have to listen to what the Assembly is saying. The assembly has stopped the healing practices,” he added.
Sarma earlier in the state assembly had said All India United Democratic Front President Badruddin Ajmal serving healing water is not banned under this act however if he serves healing water during election the act prohibits such action.”
Ajmal who is Lok Sabha MP and is pressed by the people to serve “healing” water. Large number of containers, bottles which are lined up in the pavilion, when maulana after duwa(prayer), puffs on water which according to believers have a healing effect.
Ajmal is a cleric from Deoband in Uttar Pradesh is a big crowd puller and it is believed that his healing water is one of the reasons for him being a crowd puller. Recently he was seen while serving the healing water.
