Government of India on Friday issued a Gazette notification declaring the three new criminal bills namely Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023 will be effective from July 1, 2024, with an to revamp the criminal justice system. The three criminal legislations were passed in the Parliament's winter session and received the President's assent on December 25, 2023. In three separate notifications, government announced the enforcement date of the newly enacted laws.

BJP on Saturday slammed the AAP-Congress alliance in Delhi for the Lok Sabha polls and alleged the move «shows Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has lost his connection» with the Delhiites. «Kejriwal's alliance with the Congress shows he has lost his connection with the Delhiites. Sachdeva said the people of Delhi are «shocked to see» the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Congress forming an electoral alliance and added that, irrespective of the collaboration, the BJP will win all seven Lok Sabha seats of Delhi.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Saturday joined party MP and her brother Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Uttar Pradesh's Moradabad. According to party functionaries, from Moradabad, Priyanka Gandhi will accompany Rahul Gandhi as the yatra traverses through Fatehpur Sikri via Amroha, Sambhal, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Hathras, and Agra. Priyanka was scheduled to join the yatra last week when it entered UP through Chandauli district but had to drop out because of ill health.

This was revealed by Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, also the state Congress President, while speaking to reporters today about the biennial election to fill four vacancies from Karnataka in the Rajya Sabha by the elected MLAs on February 27. «We have to be careful....all the MLAs will be staying together at the hotel, we will be coming together to vote (to Vidhana Soudha on Tuesday). We have extra votes. We will do whatever is necessary to secure our party. Others are also in touch with us. I don't want to disclose it,» he told reporters here, adding that a mock voting drill would also be held. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has called the Congress legislature party meeting at 3:30 PM on Monday in the presence of AICC General Secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala and party treasurer Ajay Maken.
