KYC exists to prevent fraud and not to make people miserable
Also read: KYC Maze: Investors, distributors face updating hurdles with NDML & DotEx KRAs In the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) KYC norms through the Master Directive in 2016 and subsequent updates, banks were mandated to ensure: that any new bank account applicant is who they say they are (proof of identity); they live where they say they live (proof of address); banks had to also conduct a physical verification for the documents (OSV, or Original Seen and Verified and CPV, or Contact Point Verification) The reason for this type of verification is to ensure that no fraudster enters the system, specifically, the government was worried about terrorism and money laundering. Along the way, RBI introduced anti-money laundering checks to enhance security. The new fraudsters found that they could use minimum KYC compliance norms using stolen IDs to open ‘burner’ accounts or mule accounts.

Indian rupee depreciated by 7 paise to 83.84 against the US dollar in early trade on Wednesday, tracking subdued domestic equity market trend and unabated outflow of foreign capital. A weak American currency and lower crude prices, however, supported the local unit and prevented its sharp fall, forex traders said. At the interbank foreign exchange, the rupee opened weak at 83.79 and lost further to 83.84 against the greenback, declining 7 paise from its previous days' closing level of 83.77.

All about King Charles' cancer battle
Buckingham Palace was received in February. It took the world by surprise that King Charles had cancer and would be taking time off from public duties to receive treatment. However, in an uncanny happening, he is now deemed fit enough for a royal tour to Australia and Samoa, merely six months after the announcement. He has been upfront and honest about his prostate issue but is unlikely to disclose the specific type of cancer he is diagnosed with, according to The Sun. His goal, according to them, is to «reach out and embrace as many people impacted by cancer as he can.» The King was driven to disclose his cancer diagnosis in the hopes that the public's overwhelming support for him after he disclosed that he had undergone a prostate procedure and the substantial awareness it garnered would occur this time as well. From the beginning, courtiers have made it apparent that there would be no frequent updates on the monarch's health and recuperation, except for any significant developments required to be made public. Kolkata doctor rape-murder case: Padma awardee doctors urge PM for Healthcare Worker Protection Law
Padma awardee doctors have urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to quickly enact a special law addressing violence against healthcare professionals following the Kolkata rape-murder incident. They recommended an immediate ordinance to enforce «the harshest possible punishment» for those who engage in physical or verbal violence against healthcare workers. These demands come in the wake of the alleged rape and murder of a woman trainee doctor at R G Kar Medical College and Hospital, coupled with accusations of a botched investigation and cover-up. Healthcare professionals and organizations, including the Indian Medical Association (IMA), have launched widespread protests advocating for a central law to ensure medic safety. Notable signatories of the letter include Dr. Balram Bhargava, former Director General of ICMR, Dr. Randeep Guleria, former AIIMS Delhi Director, and Dr. S K Sarin, Director of the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences. In the letter, the doctors have expressed their significant concern and called for PM Modi's immediate intervention.
