Centre rubbishes Opposition's hacking claim, says compulsive critics want to distract Indian people
Apple phones regarding a possible 'state-sponsored' hacking attack. However, the government has claimed that it is very serious about the issue and that it has issued an ordered probe into the matter. «We are serious about these allegations and we want the complainants to go through the investigation,» IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said at a briefing. He said that the complaints require deep technical understanding and certain agencies will be involved in the investigation. Furthermore, Vaishnaw claimed that the Opposition leaders cannot digest India's progress under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and are indulging in compulsive critique. «There are many compulsive critics in our country. Their only job is to criticise the government,» he said. «From the mail sent by from Apple, it can be understood that they have no clear information, they have sent alerts on the basis of an estimate. This is vague. Apple has released a clarification that the allegations by compulsive critics are not true. Such advisories have been sent to people in 150 countries. The people who cannot see the growth of the country are doing destructive politics,» Vaishnaw added. Earlier in the day, prominent Opposition leaders part of the INDIA bloc took to social media claiming they got a message from Apple Inc saying their phones are likely being targeted by 'state-sponsored' attackers.

What is caste discrimination? A closer look at new Ontario human rights ruling
caste discrimination in Canada is a huge step forward for civil rights, advocates say.In its ruling, the OHRC said while caste is not specified as a protected category under Canadian law, it is covered by international human rights law and hence, can be protected under the Ontario Human Rights Code.“Caste is not a prescribed Code ground, and only the legislature can recognize a new ground,” the OHRC noted.“However, the OHRC, the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario and the courts must take a liberal and progressive interpretation of the Code. Human rights tribunals have found that caste-based discrimination is covered by human rights laws and can be challenged under one or more existing grounds.”Vijay Puli, executive director of the Canada-based South Asian Dalit Adivasi Network (SADAN), told Global News just the acknowledgment of caste discrimination from the OHRC is a huge leap forward.“People from oppressed castes can now finally go to court if they face discrimination.

Q3
Q3 is going to be better than Q2 by probably a couple of percentages: LatentView Analytics CEO
Rajan Sethuraman, CEO, LatentView Analytics, says “what has aided the growth in the last quarter and even in the first quarter has been incremental work that we have won from existing stakeholders. That again, is energizing because it means that the work we are doing for our current stakeholders is important and critical, that they choose to continue that and even add to that during the current economic scenario.” In the first half of the year, we have seen a growth of around 20%. But when we started the year, you had a growth target of at least 25%. Are you expecting growth to accelerate in the second half of the year or are you expecting this kind of growth rate to continue? While we hope for a significant acceleration, at this time, the demand scenario is still a little weak. We are, however, energized by the fact that the number of open conversations and the opportunities in the pipeline is more than double of where we were at the same time last year. So there is a great deal of interest but signing new deals and getting things underway, that is still quite sluggish.

40% of Nifty IT stocks oversold, Tech Mahindra & LTTS looks ready for bounce back: Anand James
40% stocks in Nifty IT index have moved into the oversold region and among them Tech Mahindra and LTTS looks to be gearing up for a bounce back, says Anand James, Chief Market Strategist at Geojit Financial Services. “Among the NSE500 stocks, 10% stocks are oversold. Interesting fact is that Chemical stocks have corrected significantly and around 70% have either entered the oversold region or close to the oversold region,” he says. Edited excerpts: After six days of non-stop decline that ended with October series expiry, was Friday's upside expected? Nifty showed strong support at 200-DMA. What are the targets for the new series? Both the non stop decline as well as the turn on Friday could be explained by 200 DMA which remained the target and thereby a point for reversal, after the penetration of 19500 triggered panic selling. Friday also saw the November derivative series becoming active, also aiding a bounce back that has now retraced about 23% of the fall. This retracement could stretch as far as 19150 as well, while momentum could even push the recovery move to 19420 which is from where bears could mount fresh challenges in the days ahead. Alternatively, inability to hold above 19050 or a direct pull back below 18900 would also ensure that the 200 DMA at 18600 is tested. Breach of the same would bring the worst case scenarios into the picture, with 17000 as the likely objective, but this is least favoured at the moment.

Young working class, reforms make India an investment magnet: Hindustan Unilever's MD Rohit Jawa
Hindustan Unilever's managing director Rohit Jawa has told ET that the Centre's progressive and reformer mindset, manifest in New Delhi's economy-anchored policy thrust and commentary, should bring 'considerable' overseas funds into India — a demonstrated growth outlier in an inflation-ravaged world struggling to come to grips with geopolitical uncertainties. «The Indian economy is unstoppable because of the sheer demographics of a billion people of working age,» Jawa said in his first media interview after taking over the top job at India's biggest consumer-goods company in June. «At this point of time in geopolitics, India is sweetly positioned. So, that does mean there will be considerable foreign investment coming in.»
