UPS Progressive Action Sustainability track country reports Must accelerate action for sustainable development goals: UN Secy General
progress on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030 remains uneven, slow and mostly elusive. The United Nation's annual report card, Sustainable Development Goals Report 2024, launched in New York on Friday, finds only 17 % of the SDG targets are currently on track, with nearly half showing minimal or moderate progress, and over one-third stalled or regressing. «The world is getting a failing grade,» said UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. «The takeaway is simple: Our failure to secure peace, to confront climate change and to boost international finance is undermining development. We must accelerate action for the Sustainable Development Goals — and we don't have a moment to lose.» Between 2015, when countries adopted the SDGs to 2019, there were marked gains and improvements though these too were insufficient to achieve the goals by 2030. However, the COVID-19 pandemic and its lingering impacts, the energy, food and economic crisis resulting from the wars and escalating conflicts, geopolitical tensions and growing climate chaos have severely hindered progress.

Target Progressive Analysis wellness President show Interviews Fed gets heartening inflation data, but slow road ahead
inflation is cooling, news that helped ease doubts over how well monetary policy is doing its job after stronger-than-expected price increases earlier in the year. But while progress on a month-to-month basis is increasingly clear, the road to the Fed's 2% inflation goal — measured in year-over-year terms — is likely to be long, complicating discussions about when to cut interest rates. «We are getting evidence that (policy) is tight enough,» San Francisco Federal Reserve Bank President Mary Daly told CNBC in an interview just minutes after a Bureau of Economic Analysis report showed inflation did not rise at all from April to May. «It's really challenging to look anywhere and not see monetary policy working: we have growth slowing, spending slowing, the labor market slowing, inflation coming down.»

Provident Progressive Align WhatsApp students International New Zealand tightens rules for foreign workers looking to sponsor dependants
New Zealand has announced new immigration rules that won't let some foreign workers sponsor their dependents for work, visitor, or student visas. These regulations aim to streamline visa processes while ensuring that visa sponsors meet specific criteria aligned with New Zealand's economic and immigration priorities. Starting June 26, changes to visa regulations in New Zealand mean that individuals holding an Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) at ANZSCO levels 4 and 5, without a pathway to residency, can no longer sponsor their partners and dependent children for work, visitor, or student visas. This adjustment aligns with broader revisions to the AEWV scheme earlier this year, returning conditions to those similar to the previous Essential Skills Work Visa. However, partners and dependent children can still apply for their own visas, such as the Accredited Employer Work Visa or international student visas, provided they meet the respective criteria.

Progressive Of ends and beginnings
Ghana at first looks like a series of linked hearts, but on closer inspection, I notice a stylised bird. I learn that this is the Sankofa, a mythical bird from their culture that flies forward while looking backward, with an egg held in its mouth. The word Sankofa derives from the Akan people, a West African ethnic group that resides in Ghana and the Ivory Coast. The Akan, over centuries, developed a highly artistic and communicative system of ideographic and pictographic symbols, each representing a specific concept or proverb rooted in the Akan experience.... Their beliefs were handed down mostly orally through proverbs and stories, or through pictorial symbols. A proverb from which the concept and meaning of Sankofa is derived declares, 'It is not wrong to go back for that which you have forgotten.' It speaks of bringing good from the past into the present and progress through the benevolent use of knowledge.
