Sebi clarifies on 3-in-1 accounts usage for public issue applications
Markets regulator Sebi on Friday clarified that investors can continue using 3-in-1 accounts to apply online for public issues of debt securities, non-convertible redeemable preference shares, municipal debt securities, and securitised debt instruments. This is in addition to the existing modes of application, Sebi said in a circular. A three-in-one trading account combines a savings account, a demat account, and a trading account into a single integrated solution. In this case, the clients would have their funds in their bank account, earning interest on the cash balances.

IT company fires 24 employees for using meal credits to buy household items
Meta employees from blatantly misusing company-provided meal credits for personal purchases. According to a report by Financial Times, these employees had been using their $25 meal credits to buy non-food items such as toothpaste, acne pads, and wine glasses. Like other large tech companies, Meta provides extensive food options for its in-office staff. Employees working at major offices, such as the Silicon Valley headquarters, receive free meals on-site, while those in smaller offices are given credits for Uber Eats or Grubhub, intended for meals delivered to the office. Smaller Meta offices typically provide daily allowances of $20 for breakfast, $25 for lunch, and $25 for dinner, issued in $25 increments. However, the company fired two dozen employees after discovering they had used these meal credits to purchase household items.

Karnataka to use tech solutions to address water & sanitation
Karnataka government is looking to address water and sanitation issues in rural areas through the adoption of innovative ideas and relevant technologies. The IT-BT and Rural Development and Panchayat Raj (RDPR) departments will host a ‘Karnataka Rural Water and Sanitation Sustainability Summit’ on October 29 and have invited startups to provide solutions. The event will feature a pitching session where selected startups can present their ideas, with winners receiving a minimum funding of Rs 25 lakhs. These budding startups will also have the opportunity to pilot their projects with the government, the department announced in a release. Entrepreneurs, academia, startups, and researchers can submit their potential pitch decks by October 23. IT-BT and RDPR minister Priyank Kharge said, “I intend to make Karnataka a water-secure state in the country. If I can solve this using deep tech in biotechnology or IT that ensures we get better portability, the government itself can become your (companies') first client.” He added that the government can help startups pilot these solutions within a sandbox environment and provide capital.
