The deceased, Yogesh, had his brother, Jitendra, make serious allegations against the police, claiming they demanded five lakh rupees for his release. In response, the Noida Police Commissioner has suspended all police personnel stationed at the Chowki, a NBT report stated. Yogesh, employed at a bakery in Chipiyana, was brought in for questioning after allegations were made against him by a colleague. According to Jitendra, his brother was taken by the police who demanded a hefty sum for his release. Despite Jitendra providing Rs 50,000 and a bottle of liquor, the police allegedly demanded an additional four and a half lakh rupees. Tragically, Yogesh was found hanging the following morning. A police officer revealed that Yogesh, originally from Aligarh, worked in a Chipiyana bakery where a female colleague had leveled accusations against him. Yogesh was called in for questioning and, on Thursday morning at 10 o'clock, he was discovered having committed suicide at the police station. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, he was pronounced dead.

National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC) has reportedly asked the West Bengal and Punjab govts to raise the share of Other Backward Classes (OBCs) in reservations as the two states are still not fully using the 50% reservation limit. In West Bengal, the total reservation for SCs/STs and OBCs for govt employment and education is 45% while in Punjab the same is at 37% and 35% respectively, NCBC noted. The commission, as per the report in the Times of India, thus recommended that the two opposition ruled states to enhance without delay the quota for OBCs to make full use of the limit permitted under the Supreme Court-mandated 50% cap. NCBC has recommended the West Bengal govt to increase the quota for OBCs by 5% in government employment and educational institutions. For Punjab, the commission suggested an increase of 13% in government employment and 15% in education.

Panic gripped a Delhi-Vadodara Air India flight at the IGI airport here after a crew member spotted a tissue paper with the word "bomb" written on it in the aircraft's washroom, police said on Thursday. The flight was searched after the note was discovered on Wednesday evening but nothing suspicious was found, a police officer said. He said the aircraft was ready for take-off when the crew member spotted the tissue paper at 7 pm. The Central Industrial Security Force and the Delhi Police were informed and passengers were asked to deboard the flight, he said.
