Ministry road map soon for exporters to deal with CVD cases
India is likely to hold talks with the US to convince it about the compatibility of the Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products (RoDTEP) scheme with global trade rules following Washington's imposition of countervailing duties on three items exported from India as retaliation against the scheme. Simultaneously, the commerce and industry ministry is drawing up a roadmap to work on the kind of documentation that needs to be maintained by Indian exporters to deal with anti-subsidy levies such as countervailing duty cases conducted by various countries on domestic products. The move follows the US' countervailing investigations on three Indian products- paper file folders, common alloy aluminum sheet, and forged steel fluid end blocks. The European Commission too has conducted a similar probe on certain graphite electrode systems from India.

Red tape may play spoilsport at new year's eve parties
new year is unlikely to start with a bang in the national capital as most restaurants, pubs, and bars plan to keep things low key on the new year's eve due to various restrictions. “Most restaurants, pubs and bars in Delhi…are not planning any large-scale celebrations…because of the various administrative hassles in procuring multiple permissions and licenses,” said Sandeep Anand Goyle, who heads Delhi chapter of National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI). “Pubs, bars and nightclubs are allowed to operate till 1 am, but they are also sealed at times if decibels are beyond the prescribed limits,” he said. “With all the hassles, people don’t want to plan large-scale celebrations,” Goyle said, adding that the police seal crowd-generating areas and malls, and refrain restaurants from organising parties at their outlets. “Barricades are put on roads leading to markets, commercial complexes, and around the malls, creating hurdles for guests to reach them,” he said.

The rising ABVP factor in BJP and RSS
Madhya Pradesh, Mohan Yadav was in the national capital to attend the 75th anniversary of the foundation day of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), a solid starting base of present day top BJP and RSS leaders. From Union home minister Amit Shah and BJP president JP Nadda to chief ministers of several states, including Revanth Reddy of Congress-ruled Telangana, most of these leaders have cut their teeth during their younger days with ABVP, the student wing of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). The list of ABVP student activists who are in prominent positions in BJP includes around a dozen Union ministers like Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari, Dharmendra Pradhan, Bhupender Yadav, G Kishen Reddy, Gajendra Shekhawat, Kiren Rijiju, V Muraleedharan, among others. Similarly, with the BJP's organisation, its general secretaries Sunil Bansal (a full-time RSS pracharak), Vinod Tawde, and national secretaries — Asha Lakhra and OP Dhankhar — started their political journey from ABVP. State heads, including Pushkar Dhami as Uttarakhand CM, Devendra Fadnavis as deputy CM of Maharashtra and the recently appointed three CMs — Bhajan Lal Sharma in Rajasthan, Yadav in MP, and Vishnu Deo Sai in Chhattisgarh, all owe their political beginnings to ABVP.
