Long-term capital gains: Can you save taxes by buying multiple properties?
I bought residential property A in 2012 and another B in 2013 for ₹62 Lakh and ₹75 lakh respectively. On Nov 2022 I gifted property A to my father and property B to my mother through a registered gift deed. Now I want to sell both properties and I wish to put my Indexed cost as FDs in the bank and invest the taxable capital gains in small flats to save taxes. The sale price of flat A is ₹1 crore and for flat B is ₹2 crore. Can I buy multiple properties and save taxes on long-term capital gains? Since your parents are owners of the respective properties now, the investment has to be made in their name.

Tata betting big on high-resolution imagery satellites for military
Tata Advanced Systems Ltd (TASL) has set up a facility to manufacture high-resolution imagery satellites that will help the armed forces keep a closer eye on border areas, betting big on the military space sector. The Bengaluru-based facility will manufacture sub-metre resolution satellites and will have a ground station that can control their movement and process imagery required by the armed forces to monitor infrastructure or acquire military targets. The defence ministry has thrown open a challenge to Indian industry to make metre and sub-metre resolution satellites for military use. Built on TASL's considerable defence sector capabilities, the facility is geared to manufacture up to 24 low earth orbit (LEO) satellites a year.

Companies pay more for debt fundraise as liquidity's tight
funds sloshing about within the financial system during the Covid pandemic, top-rated companies are now paying more to raise money through bond markets, with the pricing of issues by even the likes of Reliance Industries reflecting the divergence between sovereign and corporate debt. Over the past year-and-a-half, as the Reserve Bank of India has raised interest rates and progressively drained the banking system of excess liquidity, the spreads between government bond (Gsec) yields and AAA-rated corporate bond yields have shot up. The rate of interest that companies pay to investors to raise money through bonds is determined by yields on Gsecs. A higher spread implies a rise in borrowing costs for companies vis-a-vis what the government pays to raise funds. While the spreads for 5-year and 10-year AAA corporate bonds are still lower than the historical average of 43 basis points and 50 basis points, respectively, the gap has increased significantly from just 1 bps and 6 bps at the end of April 2022, data provided to ET by CRISIL Market Intelligence and Analytics showed.
