What to do with Zomato, Cochin Shipyard and 4 other stocks? Aamar Deo of Angel One decodes
Ahead of the June 4 general election outcome, volatility is expected to remain high and India VIX appears to be at a striking distance of 30, Aamar Deo Singh, Senior Vice President-Equity, Commodity & Currency at Angel One said, advising investors to remain alert and look at investing light. This analyst spells-out strategy in previous week’s major movers viz. Cochin Shipyard, Zomato and Global Health (Medanta) and three more stocks. Here’s what he recommends: Edited excerpts: Market seems to have got its mojo back especially after statements by Indian Prime Minister Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah with the former exuding confidence over rally following a favourable June 4 outcome and the latter suggesting investors to continue buying in the run-up to the D-day. Do you see a connection or see other factors to be supporting the rally? Aamar Deo Singh: Overall, markets appear to have factored in the return of the current dispensation at the centre, and that is reflected in the price moves, cutting across sectors and multi-caps with the benchmark indices gaining almost 2% WoW. Unless there is a major upset, of which the probability is very low, markets would continue to in an uptrend in the long-term.

Electronics companies seek Rs 35,000-crore incentive plan for components
electronics manufacturing industry is urging the government for a ₹30,000-₹35,000 crore production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme for components and sub-assemblies, along with capital expenditure backup to support surging exports of mobile phones and other electronics. «The incentive scheme is needed to support growing demand for electronics components to the tune of $75-$80 billion by 2026, and $300 billion by 2032 to support $300 billion worth of electronics products manufacturing by 2026 and $1.2 trillion by 2032,» the India Cellular & Electronics Association (ICEA), which represents top smartphone brands and manufacturing companies, said. The scheme's objective is to boost domestic value addition, especially in mobile phone manufacturing to 35-40%, from 18% now, said ICEA, adding component manufacturing should run parallel to the development of semiconductor ecosystem, currently underway in India. «In confronting its burgeoning semiconductor demand, we must recognise the emergent necessity to pivot from heavy reliance on imports towards fostering an indigenous semiconductor ecosystem, underpinned by localised PCBA operations, focused circuit design, and deepened value addition across product manufacturing,» the industry body said.

Top Stock Recommendations: Dharmesh Shah of ICICI Securities suggests buying RIL, and NTPC tomorrow
Stock Market News: Friday's intraday trading saw the domestic benchmark indices, the Sensex and Nifty 50, reach record highs before ending slightly down as a result of profit-booking in the IT, FMCG, and healthcare sectors.Though the markets were supported by fresh inflows of foreign cash and steady prices of crude oil on international exchanges, traders noted that the dismal trend in global stocks weighed on the sentiments. For the second day in a row, markets were surging ahead of the Lok Sabha election results on June 4.The Sensex hit a new all-time high of 75,636.50 during the session, but it was unable to hold onto its gains and finished the day 8 points lower at 75,410.39. During the session, the Nifty 50 hit a new all-time high of 23,026.40, but it ended the day 11 points lower at 22,957.10.Vinod Nair, Head of Research at Geojit Financial Services, said that despite the recent US FOMC minutes suggesting a sustained hawkish stance on policy rates, sentiments in the global market remained muted. The US unemployment claims declined more than anticipated, business earnings held steady, and inflation remained obstinate, thus the Fed had no justification to lower interest rates.Large caps are taking a backseat to the overall market rise as the domestic market achieves new highs, suggesting that the short-term momentum will continue.
