Udayanidhi Stalin should be arrested: Sushil Modi on DMK leader's Sanatan Dharma remarks
BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi on Sunday dubbed as «treason» the remarks on 'Sanatan Dharma' made by Tamil Nadu minister and DMK leader Udayanidhi Stalin and demanded his arrest. The Rajya Sabha MP also asked Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and RJD supremo Lalu Prasad to clarify their stand on the issue, given their affinity with the DMK. «Udayanidhi Stalin should be arrested and sent to jail for having compared Sanatana Dharma to ailments like dengue and malaria,» the former Bihar Deputy CM told reporters here. «The statement amounts to treason ('deshdroh') since Stalin did not advocate eradication of the ills plaguing the faith, but called for rooting out the faith itself.

Tamil Nadu minister Stalin Jr’s comments on Sanatana Dharma triggers rebuke across South
Tamil Nadu minister Udhayanidhi Stalin’s remarks on the Hindu religion sparked sharp reactions across southern India with the BJP units in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu coming down heavily on the young DMK leader. Stalin said at an event in Chennai on Saturday that the Sanatana Dharma was like dengue and malaria, and that they should think of not fighting it but eradicating it. Congress MP Karti Chidambaram’s endorsement of the statement fuelled demands for Karnataka’s ruling party to clarify its stand on the matter. The BJP's Karnataka unit said, «Rahul Gandhi's friend and ally Udhayanidhi Stalin spews venom against Hindus by saying Sanatana Dharma is like malaria, dengue and must be eradicated.

Infra projects granted to 'close friends' of BJP: Congress targets govt over CAG report
Congress on Sunday targeted the Modi government over a recent CAG report on Bharatmala project, alleging that infrastructure projects have been granted to "close friends" and donors of the BJP and asserted that only a JPC probe can unravel the truth. In a statement, Congress general secretary (communications) Jairam Ramesh said the Bharatmala Pariyojana is aimed at developing 35,000 km of national highways to make freight movement across the country more efficient. «Yet, the most remarkable feature of the project has been the efficiency with which costs have been inflated and projects handed over to the Prime Minister's close friends and his party's electoral bond donors, as shown in a recent CAG report covering the period 2017-21,» he alleged. The Congress leader said the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) awarded a 250 km four-lane project between Suryapet and Khammam in Telangana to a consortium in which Adani Transport was the dominant partner with a 74 per cent work share. According to the CAG, he said Adani Transport «did not fulfil the condition of 'Request for Proposal' regarding experience of five years» building highways. «Despite being completely unqualified to bid, Adani Transport once again benefited from Modi's Magic.

PM Modi's G20 interview: BJP leaders hail visionary leadership, opposition raises questions on price rise, unemployment
BJP and the opposition traded barbs on Sunday over Prime Minister Narendra Modi's remarks in an interview to PTI ahead of the G20 summit, with the ruling party leaders hailing his vision for the country and INDIA bloc parties raising questions on «rising» prices and unemployment. In the interview, Prime Minister Narendra Modi asserted that the 'Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas' model can be the guiding principle for the welfare of a world shifting from a GDP-centric approach to a human-centric one. Irrespective of the size of the GDP, every voice matters, Modi told PTI in an exclusive interview conducted late last week at his Lok Kalyan Marg residence. Prime Minister Modi said that India's economic growth is a natural by-product of his nine-year-old government's political stability, as he expressed optimism that it will be a developed nation by 2047 with «corruption, casteism and communalism» having no place in our national life. His remarks evoked contrasting reactions from the ruling party and opposition leaders. «There is no doubt in anyone's mind that India under PM Modi over the last nine years and India's G20 presidency are big milestones in the country's rise on the global stage,» Union minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar said on Prime Minister Modi's 'India soon to be in top three world economies' remark.

"Unacceptable": Political analyst Tehseen Poonawalla on Udhayanidhi Stalin's Sanatan rant
Stalin's son's «eradicate» Sanatana Dharma" remarks triggered a political slugfest, political analyst Tehseen Poonawalla condemned the language used by the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) minister. Speaking to ANI, Poonawalla said "...This kind of language in our political discourse is absolutely unacceptable. I believe that while every way of life does require reform, those reforms must happen through legislation, political movements, dialogue, through conversation… I think that this kind of language must be condemned." Addressing a conference on Saturday, Udhayanidhi, the minister for Sports and Youth Affairs in the Tamil Nadu government, equated 'Sanatana' (Sanatan Dharma) with «mosquitoes, dengue, malaria, fever and corona», adding that it should be stamped out like these ailments. Tamil Nadu Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief K Annamalai on Sunday launched fresh attacks on the DMK leader over his remarks on 'Sanatana Dharma' and said that the eradication of a particular culture is called genocide. «What Udhayanidhi spoke yesterday should be condemned by the 142 crore people of the country because hatred for a particular religion came out yesterday.
