Assam CM Sarma says won't let Miya Muslims take over the state
Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma told the state assembly that he would not let Miya Muslims (Bengali-speaking Muslims) take over the state, triggering protests from the Congress which staged a walkout. These remarks come at a time when several organisations in Upper Assam have threated Muslims to leave the region following the alleged gang rape of a 14-year-old girl by three persons in Assam's Nagaon district. Speaking in the assembly on the Opposition's adjournment motion on several key issues, including rape of minors and the targeting of Muslims in Upper Assam's Sivasagar district, Sarma said, «I will take sides. What can you do? Will not let Miya Muslims take over Assam...Let them (the Opposition) compete for minority votes. I am not in the competition.» Harping on Opposition leaders Rafikul Sahab and Debabrata Saikia stating that Miya Muslims will move from Lower Assam, where they are present in significant numbers, to Upper Assam, Sarma said: «They have made an important statement… You Miya Muslims will take the entire lower Assam? We will not let you all take Upper Assam, not ever.»

Jammu and Kashmir Polls: Don't field candidates against NC-Congress nominees, our agenda same, Omar Abdullah tells PDP
Omar Abdullah on Sunday claimed the PDP has copied his party's manifesto and asked the Mehbooba Mufti-led party to not field candidates against NC-Congress nominees for the betterment of Jammu and Kashmir as their agenda is the same. Abdullah's remarks came a day after Mehbooba said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would extend complete support to the Congress-National Conference (NC) alliance and leave all seats in the elections for the coalition if it accepts her party's agenda. The former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister was addressing NC workers in central Kashmir's Ganderbal district, where activist Sayim Mustafa joined the party. KL Rahul finally opens up about Koffee with Karan controversy with Hardik Pandya on Nikhil Kamath's show
KL Rahul, the Indian wicketkeeper-batter, has spoken about the intense impact the «Koffee with Karan» controversy had on him. «The interview was a different world. That changed me. Completely changed me,» Rahul stated in a podcast with Nikhil Kamath, which featured Bollywood stars Kriti Sanon and Badshah. The incident, which occurred five years ago, left him 'massively scarred' and resulted in significant changes to his personality. Following controversial remarks about women made alongside fellow cricketer Hardik Pandya on Karan Johar's talk show, both players faced severe backlash, resulting in their suspension prior to an ODI series against Australia. «I was a very shy, soft-spoken boy growing up. Then I played for India and became very confident, I had no problem being in a huge group of people. People will know I have been in a room of 100 people because I would talk to everyone.

U.S Presidential elections 2024: Harris' biggest challenge; holding momentum till November
Kamala Harris experienced following her nomination convention, less than two weeks ago, when they believed that she would be linked to President Joe Biden's potentially disastrous reelection campaign. She has given hope to Democrats who had lost hope and revitalized a party that was about to lose hope. But the sobering truth is that success is far from certain. It is not likely that Harris will be able to defeat former President Donald Trump with the swing voters that the thousands of ecstatic delegates in the hall this week represented. Numerous presidential candidates throughout history have stirred their supporters during conventions but ultimately failed in November. Trump is no pushover, whatever else he may be. The next two and a half months will be brutal for Harris. Also Read: Not UPenn or Georgetown, Barron Trump is heading to New York for college this fall

No positive boost from DNC, can Harris beat Trump in November? Here's what latest polls say
Kamala Harris's closing remarks during the Democratic National Convention last night had little effect on attendees' intentions to vote. But there might be a change in the presidential contest now that Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is apparently withdrawing later today. According to FiveThirtyEight's most recent average of national polls, Harris leads Trump by 3.5 points. National polls have shown Harris to be slightly ahead of Trump on average, but the race is still close with swing states. According to the most recent national survey conducted by Outward Intelligence from August 18 to 22, Harris has not yet experienced any favorable boost following this week's DNC. Harris continues to lead Trump by +6 points in this poll, with 49.5 percent of the vote. But nothing has changed from the same poll conducted last week. According to the polls, both Trump and Harris would gain ground in a straight-up contest; however, Trump would narrow Harris's lead, with 48 percent to the vice president's 52 percent. This infuriated Trump, who vented his fury at Brown. Trump appeared to be disputing the late monarch's memory with his remarks, although directing his wrath towards the journalist, as per the reports of Yahoo entertainment.
