Sean Diddy's ex Jennifer Lopez's involvement into $400 million sexual assault lawsuit against US rapper spells trouble? What we know
Jennifer Lopez were among the most prominent Hollywood couples in the late 90s. The couple hogged the limelight with their glamorous appearances, high-profile romance, emotional ups and downs, controversies and ultimately legal issues. Ever since the controversial rapper has been arrested in alleged sex racketeering and trafficking case, Jennifer Lopez has remained largely tight-lipped about the ongoing controversiessurrounding her ex-boyfriend. She has noticeably distanced herself from allegations surrounding Sean 'Diddy' Combs as tabloids continue churning out a flurry of reports about her divorce. Her personal life has been under scrutiny due to reports about her split from Ben Affleck. While the breakup appears to have been a deeply emotional experience, it has reportedly provided her a temporary escape from the storm of allegations linked to Diddy.

Taiwan receives world's most advanced tanks from US amid increasing tensions with China
M1A2T Abrams tanks from the United States, marking the first US tank delivery to the island in 23 years, Radio Free Asia reported. According to Radio Free Asia, this shipment is part of a larger order of 122 tanks expected over the next two years. While the M1A2T is regarded as one of the most advanced main battle tanks globally, some experts have raised concerns about its suitability for Taiwan's mountainous terrain and dense urban areas. However, the tanks are seen as a major boost to Taiwan's defence capabilities, especially considering the ongoing tension with China. The M1A2T Abrams, an advanced version of the M1 Abrams produced by General Dynamics, is equipped with a 120mm smoothbore gun capable of penetrating armour up to 850mm thick. Its formidable firepower, enhanced armour, and speed make it a powerful asset for Taiwan's military.

Images caught on Google Maps give police big clue in Spanish murder case
Google Maps cameras have captured some pretty interesting photos in the past, preserved on the mapping software for the world to find, but this time the images have given police an extra clue in the arrests of two people in connection with a murder investigation. The images in question were captured by a Google Maps car camera in October, in which a man can be seen hunched over the trunk of a car on a nearly deserted street in Spain, loading a large, bulky object wrapped in what appears to be a white sheet or bags.Police say they believe the object is tied to the death of a Cuban national living in Spain who was reported missing by a relative in late 2023.According to newspaper El País, the man had been living in the northern Spanish municipality of Soria, where he had turned up hoping to track down a woman believed to be his partner. The relative of the missing man contacted police, saying he’d received some suspicious text messages from the man’s phone saying he’d met another woman and would be leaving Spain and ditching his phone.“This made the complainant suspect that the messages had not been sent by the missing person and led him to report it to police,” police said in a statement.Last month, according to Reuters, a man and woman were initially arrested on suspicion of kidnapping. Tata Trusts tightens monitoring, shifts focus to grant-making
Tata Trusts, the single-largest shareholder of Tata Sons, has tightened project monitoring processes, shifting from quarterly to monthly reviews to better manage operational expenses and enhance the on-ground impact of its funds, people familiar with the matter said. The organisation may also prioritise grant-making over direct implementation (DI) projects to further minimise expenses, the people said. An inflated cost structure had led trustees to do an internal audit several months ago, the people said. This revealed many discrepancies, leading the trustees to tighten the monitoring system. Additionally, the Trusts' audit system has been strengthened and it now reports directly to the chief executive, who is responsible for updating the executive committee and board of trustees, people said. US House approves bill to avert midnight shutdown, sends to Senate
midnight government shutdown, defying President-elect Donald Trump's demand to also greenlight trillions of dollars in new debt. Next, the Democratic-controlled Senate would need to pass the bill to ensure the government will be funded beyond midnight (0500 GMT Saturday), when current funding expires. The White House said President Joe Biden intends to sign it into law if they do. The legislation would extend government funding until March 14, provide $100 billion for disaster-hit states and $10 billion for farmers. It would not raise the debt ceiling — a difficult task Trump has pushed Congress to do before he takes office on Jan. 20.

US Stock market today: Wall Street roars, S&P 500 posts best day since Election Day
US stock market roared back on Friday to nearly halve their losses from what was tracking to be one of the market’s worst weeks of the year. Wall Street index S&P 500 rallied 1.4 per cent toward its best day since Election Day and shaved its loss for the week down to 1.7 per cent. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 602 points, or 1.4 per cent, and the Nasdaq composite rallied 1.4 per cent. Superstar stock Nvidia and other Big Tech companies led the market, which got a lift after a report said a measure of inflation the Federal Reserve likes to use was slightly lower last month than economists expected. It’s an encouraging signal following recent reports suggesting inflation may be tough to get all the way down to the Fed’s 2 per cent goal from its peak above 9 per cent. The threat of higher inflation was one of the reasons Fed Chair Jerome Powell gave this week when the central bank hinted it may deliver fewer cuts to interest rates next year than it earlier expected.
