According to recruitment firm Michael Page India's Talent Trends 2024 report, flexibility has become a major point of contention in most parts of India as employers grapple with implementing hybrid working models and policies that meet both business needs and employee preferences. At a time when a whopping 94 per cent of respondents (India) are open to exploring different roles in 2024, employers must look beyond competitive salaries and address broader aspects such as flexibility, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I), and positive workplace culture to effectively attract and retain top talent, the report said.

The report underscores a worrisome trend: despite reduced groundwater recharge, Delhi witnessed an increase in extraction, rising from 98.16% in 2022 to 99.13% in 2023. This disparity suggests ongoing challenges in sustaining groundwater levels across the city. In a somewhat positive note, the report identifies an uptick in urban areas classified as 'safe' in terms of groundwater levels. In 2023, 15% of Delhi's assessment units achieved this status, up from 12% in the previous year. However, the area categorized as 'critical' expanded significantly, encompassing 35% of Delhi in 2023 compared to 21% in 2022.

Thermal power plants (TPPs) had coal stocks of over 45 million tonne on June 16, higher by 32 per cent as compared to the same day last year, an official statement said on Wednesday. Ministry of Coal said it is working round-the-clock to ensure a consistent supply of coal to TPPs. As a result of enhanced production, efficient management of logistics and smooth inter-agency coordination, the highest ever coal stock has been reported at TPPs, the ministry statement said.

According to reports, passengers onboard the flight expressed discomfort and health concerns due to the prolonged exposure to high temperatures and inadequate ventilation. Among those affected were elderly passengers and young children, who experienced symptoms of heat exhaustion. «I was travelling from Delhi to Darbhanga (SG 486) on SpiceJet. At the Delhi airport after the check-in, they did not switch on the air-conditioning for an hour. The temperature inside (flight) was 40 degrees. The passengers were suffering. The AC was switched on when the flight took off,» recounted passenger Rohan Kumar.
