SpiceJet flight SG 486 from Delhi to Darbhanga faced a challenging situation recently when the aircraft's air conditioning remained non-functional for over an hour during intense heat conditions.
According to reports, passengers onboard the flight expressed discomfort and health concerns due to the prolonged exposure to high temperatures and inadequate ventilation. Among those affected were elderly passengers and young children, who experienced symptoms of heat exhaustion.
«I was travelling from Delhi to Darbhanga (SG 486) on SpiceJet. At the Delhi airport after the check-in, they did not switch on the air-conditioning for an hour. The temperature inside (flight) was 40 degrees. The passengers were suffering. The AC was switched on when the flight took off,» recounted passenger Rohan Kumar.
This incident comes amid a severe heatwave gripping Delhi, with temperatures soaring up to 45°C in recent days.
IndiGo Flight Delayed Due to Technical Issue Caused by High Ground Temperatures
In a separate incident, an IndiGo flight from Delhi to Bagdogra faced a significant delay on Monday due to technical issues exacerbated by the high temperatures prevailing at Indira Gandhi International Airport.
The flight, scheduled to depart at 2:10 pm, experienced a delay of nearly 4 hours, finally taking off around 6:15 pm, as per flight tracking data from FlightRadar24. Bagdogra airport, situated near Siliguri in West Bengal, was the intended destination, originally scheduled for a 4:10 pm arrival.
