According to DHS, Ravi and others paid the school for fraudulent immigration documents. Ravi allegedly left the United States before DHS could arrest him.

WASHINGTON: U.S. consumer confidence eased slightly in June amid worries about the economic outlook, but households were upbeat about the labor market and their inflation expectations over the next year improved a bit, a survey showed on Tuesday. The Conference Board said that its consumer confidence index eased to 100.4 this month from a downwardly revised 101.3 in May. Economists polled by Reuters had forecast the index slipping to 100.0 from the previously reported 102.0.

Satya Nadella had to step in to resolve a lock-step with Nvidia after the two tech giants clashed for months over the design of an artificial intelligence (AI) chip, according to a report by The Information.The root of the issue was reportedly Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang's "tight control" over how his company's chips are distributed and installed by clients, which led to a months-long fight with Microsoft, it added.Huang has been open about controlling who gets how many chips in order to prevent companies from stockpiling the item during periods of limited supply.The bone of contention here was that Nvidia also tried to dictate the server rack configuration within Microsoft's data centres where the chips were being installed. However, installing the chips as Nvidia wanted could have affected Microsoft's ability to switch to different AI chips, the report added citing sources.The report said that disagreement over how Microsoft was using the hardware after its purchase led to the production of Nvidia's next flagship chip GB200 --- complete with a server rack design specified by Huang.The long-drawn argument only concluded when it reached Nadella's desk, and he reportedly made Nvidia roll back their demands.

Justice Department officials that criminal charges be brought against Boeing after finding the planemaker violated a settlement related to two fatal crashes, two people familiar with the matter told Reuters. The Justice Department must decide by July 7 whether to prosecute Boeing. The recommendation of prosecutors handling the case has not been previously reported. In May, officials determined the company breached a 2021 agreement that had shielded Boeing from a criminal charge of conspiracy to commit fraud arising from two fatal crashes in 2018 and 2019 involving the 737 MAX jet.

Gaza City being used to distribute aid, Palestinian witnesses said, as Israeli tanks pushed further into the southern city of Rafah. The strike hit part of a vocational college run by the U.N. India's foreign ministry said peace on its border with China was critical for relations to become normal, reacting on Friday to a Reuters report that New Delhi was not keen to restart direct flights with China amid a stand-off on their Himalayan frontier. China has been pressing India to restart direct passenger flights after a four-year halt, but New Delhi is resisting as the border dispute continues to weigh on ties between the world's two most populous countries, Reuters reported on Thursday. Asked about the lack of direct flights, foreign ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said «peace and tranquillity on the border is important» for ties with China to become normal. Salvadoran officials refused to connect the jet bridge to allow the roughly 300 passengers, all Indian nationals, to disembark, according to three former crew members on the flight who spoke to Reuters on condition of anonymity. Several passengers told the cabin crew they planned to travel onward to Mexico and cross the border there illegally into the U.S., one crew member said. India joint venture has privately warned trade officials in New Delhi that a plan to curb imports of a key raw material for steelmaking overlooks the implications of the Red Sea crisis, a letter showed. The curbs planned by the world's second-biggest producer of crude steel could hit output, as they cap imports of a steelmaking fuel, low ash metallurgical coke, also known as met coke, at 2.85 million metric tons for a year. The April proposal, which came after growing shipments caused «serious injury» to domestic producers, also recommended setting quotas on met coke for exporting nations.

China's yuan dipped to a fresh seven-month low against the dollar on Friday, hurt by portfolio outflows from mainland financial markets and speculation the central bank is gradually allowing the currency to weaken. By 0245 GMT, the yuan was just off a November low of 7.2613, having fallen from 7.2575 earlier in the day. At the lows, it was a mere 7 pips away from the weak side of the band in which the People's Bank of China manages the currency.

United States and China resumed semi-official nuclear arms talks in March for the first time in five years, with Beijing's representatives telling U.S. counterparts that they would not resort to atomic threats over Taiwan, according to two American delegates who attended. The Chinese representatives offered reassurances after their U.S. interlocutors raised concerns that China might use, or threaten to use, nuclear weapons if it faced defeat in a conflict over Taiwan. Biden administration on Thursday announced plans to bar the sale of antivirus software made by Russia's Kaspersky Lab in the United States, with Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo saying that Russia's influence over the company poses a significant security risk. The software's privileged access to a computer's systems could allow it to steal sensitive information from American computers or install malware and withhold critical updates, enhancing the threat, a source said, noting that Kaspersky's customers include critical infrastructure providers and state and local governments.

Deputy Governor Dave Ramsden and external MPC member Swati Dhingra remained the only policymakers to support a cut to 5%.
