Earth on Friday, the 13th, but not this one. The 2029 Friday 13 is the most concerning of all because there is a slim chance that we will be struck by a massive asteroid that is speeding towards Earth. Today is the day to pay close attention to the gap when boarding the train and to cast ten glances left and right before crossing the street. For what reason? Of course, it's Friday 13, the dreaded day, as quoted in a report by the Daily Star UK. You can avoid disaster on this year's frightfully unlucky day if you take precautions, but in 2029, just over four years from now, you might not be so fortunate because a massive asteroid might be on its way to Earth.

Mahua Moitra accused the BJP-led Centre on Friday of «bleeding the Constitution from a thousand cuts» and said it is crystal clear that the political executive has «systematically eroded democracy» over the last 10 years. Participating in a debate in the Lok Sabha on 75 years of the Constitution, Moitra asserted that the need of the hour is to ensure that the idea of India survives in its purest form. For a significant part of her speech, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP trained her guns on former chief justice of India D Y Chandrachud, without naming him, and said what troubles the opposition is that some members of the higher judiciary appear to be doing their best to compromise the independence and integrity of the country's constitutional courts. «The outgoing CJI waxed eloquent on how the right to bail has been granted during his tenure… From A for Arnab to Z for Zubair, his alphabets seem to be abbreviated because it did not include G for Gulfisha Fatima, did not include H for Haney Babu, did not include K for Khalid Saifi, did not include S for Sharjeel Imam, U for Umar Khalid and countless others,» she said.

Trump's election has put US companies and those who have American companies as top clients in a 'wait and watch' mode, as they have put a pause on making further investments in India. This is causing worry among several state governments, with officials telling ET that companies are holding off on finalising large investments as they await clarity on Trump's policies after his inauguration as President on January 20. Several of them also expect the Trump administration's policies to favour India over China and see it as a positive for Indian businesses. «There is too much uncertainty right now,» one person from a large electronics manufacturing services firm said. «Any further investment into India is on hold until we get clarity on what Trump's policies will be,» the person said. «We are also heavily reliant on our clients and their strategy to base our next moves and at the moment our clients are not wanting to commit to anything further as they may have to set up more factories in the US. We will ultimately go where the client wants.»
