Despite facing regulatory scrutiny in the United States, crypto firms continue to innovate, with nearly half of all capital investments flowing toward U.S. crypto businesses, according to a recent report.

Bitcoin's price has encountered a setback as it falls back down to the key support level of $30,000. At the time of writing, Bitcoin is trading at around $30,330.

The SEC sued Ripple for conducting an unregistered offering of $1.3 billion in XRP between 2013 and 2020.

The price of Bitcoin SV (BSV) has dropped by 1% in the past 24 hours, with its fall to $39.29 coming as the cryptocurrency market as a whole enjoys a 5.5% gain today.

Stellar Lumens (XLM), the cryptocurrency that powers the cross-border payments-focused Stellar Network, saw a massive surge on Thursday, bolstered by the news that a US judge had deemed XRP as not meeting the conditions to qualify as a security.

The increases came after a federal judge in Manhattan partially dismissed the SEC's case against the creators of the XRP cryptocurrency, Ripple Labs, who were accused of marketing their currency without first registering it with the Wall Street regulator. The SEC has argued for years that certain digital currencies are financial securities, like stocks or bonds, and are therefore subject to its supervision as an investment product.

However, Ripple's victory in the case brought by the SEC was only partial, with US district judge Analisa Torres also ruling that institutional sale of XRP did violate federal securities law.Nevertheless, the news sent XRP's price soaring 75% late on Thursday, with Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse telling Reuters that the ruling is a “a huge win for Ripple but more importantly for the industry overall in the US”.Crypto exchange Coinbase quickly said it will add XRP back to its platform and saw its own share price jump by over 20%.The SEC filed suit against Ripple, Garlinghouse and co-founder Christian Larsen in 2020, alleging that they "raised over $1.3 billion through an unregistered, ongoing digital asset securities offering".The judge has ruled that "programmatic" sales - through exchanges and algorithms - were not offers of securities under the law because it could not be said with certainty that buyers had “a reasonable expectation of profits to be derived from the entrepreneurial or managerial efforts of others".

Digital asset payment network, Ripple (XRP) has surged over 60% in the past 24 hours following its partial victory against the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), putting an end to the three-year-long suit. 

Trading volume of XRP (XRP) tokens on the South Korean crypto exchange Upbit has surpassed Bitcoin (BTC) in the past 24 hours.
