The Rath Yatra, also known as the Chariot festival, is believed to be as old as the Jagannath Temple in Puri. This year, Lord Jagannath Yatra will take place on July 7. «This is the first time, as a pilot project, we are trying to use AI-based CCTV coverage where all those CCTV points which we have around 40 points where we have placed CCTV cameras. We would be using AI amalgamated with the CCTV system. We would also be using a drone system to identify the blind spots, identify the jam areas. We are also using drones along with the PA (Public address) system so that there are 4-5 identified spots every year where we normally face huge traffic jams and to help assist the police officers,» Additional DGP, Odisha, Dayal Gangwar, told on Saturday.

Post-Covid, 6,000 challengers have emerged that will take on market leaders in next 5 years: Saurabh Mukherjea
Saurabh Mukherjea, Founder & CIO, Marcellus Investment, says a new India is being born – the challenger franchises, roughly 6,000 companies below the top 800. The top 800 companies are the rulers, they make profits of around $60 million. But the fastest profit growth in the country is in the 6,000 companies below the top 800. According to Mukherjea, their job, in the last year, increasingly has been to load up on these new businesses as India's profit landscape changes dramatically. What are the key highlights of your new report and research study and what triggered it? Saurabh Mukherjea: What triggered it is in the two years after COVID, we realised that while the investee companies were continuing to generate 20% profit growth, there was a whole ecosystem of smaller companies – around 6,000 smaller companies – which are growing profits at 30-35%. These are not PE or VC-funded companies but were perfectly ordinary smaller companies that are growing profits at a rapid rate.

Options trading: How to protect investors and take care of market liquidity? Deepak Shenoy answers
Deepak Shenoy, Founder of Capital Mind, says that in the case of options trading, we need to increase regulatory oversight, create a mechanism so that the systemic risk is addressed, and allow for such highly leveraged traders to either bring in more capital to the table either by a margin increase or by an increase in lot size. The Indian options market is currently clocking volumes that on days are higher than India's GDP. The option market has seen activity like never before and we have seen historically when the options market is dominated by a lot of retail activity, it ends up very badly. What is the best way to protect the investor and also ensure that the market liquidity is not compromised? Deepak Shenoy: I would question the second part whether options market retail participation being very high has harmed the market because we have always had a retail run market for the longest time, both in cash and we know the biggest traders in the market on an intraday basis are retail traders, not institutions. And even in options, that has been the case. There is a large amount of them. So, I do not think there is necessarily a need to say that there are too many of them playing this market and therefore we should stop it.

Women in India face a jobs crisis. Are factories the solution?
But with her husband gone, eliminating his wages as a server, she was forced to earn money. She took a job at a nearby factory run by a company called All Time Plastics in Silvassa, a city about 100 miles north of Mumbai. A dozen years later, she is still there, plucking newly molded food storage containers and other household implements off a conveyor belt, labeling them and placing them in cartons bound for kitchens as far away as Los Angeles and London. Pawar earns about 12,000 rupees per month (about $150), a meager sum by global standards. Yet those wages have allowed her to keep her daughter in high school while transforming their everyday lives.

Mix and match? Looking for beaten-down and also momentum stocks: Aveek Mitra
Aveek Mitra, Aveksat Financial Advisory, says they are spreading bets a little thinner so that they can get into ideas beaten down stocks and also into areas with some momentum. So they mix and match things. They are not sitting on too much cash, maybe about 5% to 6% cash and at the same time do not have that kind of conviction that they will bet big on some ideas. Correction can always be there. The investor community is waiting for a correction and the markets are waiting for market man's patience to go dry. Who will win? The patience of the investors or will the market win, Mr Market? Aveek Mitra: First of all, the patience of the investor is not there because, on any kind of small fall, people are putting in more money than they were doing yesterday. Every month, the flow goes up. So. how can you say that investor patience is not there?

M&M a buying opportunity; stay away from Raymond: Chakri Lokapriya
Chakri Lokapriya, Managing Partner, RSB LLP, says that it’s time to be cautious as at the Nifty level, the earnings continue to be weak at the index level simply because the main constituents, whether it is IT or pharma or metals are not going to contribute to the earnings growth. On the other hand, the broader market earnings growth at the index level is likely to be far stronger While Wednesday’s decline was led by a slew of discounts from Motown, given the weekly expiry, the Budget coming up ahead and then, of course, data points like US CPI as well at the global front, do you think it makes sense to go a little light into these events? Chakri Lokapriya: You are right in terms of the market has run up and gone into Budget there is a lot of expectation in those few sectors like defence, railways, infra, and agriculture also to an extent. While at the Nifty level, the earnings continue to be weak at the index level simply because the main constituents, whether it is IT or pharma or metals are not going to contribute to the earnings growth. On the other hand, the broader market earnings growth at the index level is likely to be far stronger. But those stocks have run up, so I think caution would be helpful at this juncture.

Transforming governance through AI
governance and bring about a paradigm shift in citizen-centric delivery of services. Imagine a student applying for college admissions. Instead of separately applying for numerous universities and colleges with the need for filling multiple applications with repetitive data each time, an AI-driven system would proactively collate the basic demographic information about the student and suggest the probable list of colleges based on his/her score in the qualifying examination.

Moradabad: Severe flooding in people city; people forced to use boats to commute
waterlogging across Moradabad city, leading to dangerous water levels and forcing evacuations in severely affected areas like Bholenath Colony. Boats provided by the administration are the only means of rescue for the residents. The biggest dangers are the insects, snakes, and scorpions. On Sunday morning, Aarti, a resident of Bholenath Colony described how her family is unable to go out because of the flooding and is living in constant fear of insects. «We are living here with the constant fear of water entering our house. There are insects everywhere inside. We can only go out with the help of the boat, and there have been no rescue operations yet,» she said.

These two stocks can act as Rahul Dravid of your portfolio: Gautam Shah
«Even if the markets go through a bit of a correction, pharma and FMCG will stand out. So, almost 14% to 15% of your portfolio at this point of time should be in pharma,» says Gautam Shah, Goldilocks Premium Research. What would you like to get into in pharma? What are you riding there? Gautam Shah: Well, pharma has been a brilliant story for the last one year. For the last four months, it has actually got into a consolidation patch. Now it saw a breakout last week and we like stocks like Dr Reddy's which could be setting up for possibly a Rs 1,000 rally from here. Sun Pharma has been a structural story for a couple of years now. Cipla has been doing well. Stocks like Divi’s Lab and Laurus Lab have completed their underperformance, so they are also likely to move up. So, this entire pack has a lot more upside and we have seen what Wockhardt Pharma and Zydus Life have done in the recent past. And these are in some sense low beta or negative beta. So, even if the markets go through a bit of a correction, pharma and FMCG will stand out. So, almost 14% to 15% of your portfolio at this point of time should be in pharma.
