Maruti Suzuki, Apollo Tyres, Godrej & Boyce and Saint-Gobain are going the whole hog in adopting artificial intelligence (AI) in their day-to-day operations.
AI has not only helped these companies reduce costs but also increase efficiencies and reduce workplace incidents.
For instance, Apollo Tyres has achieved 8-10% efficiency gains by using data along with AI/ML in the tyre compound mixing process. «Given the initial success, several other projects have been initiated to digitalise our production plants using extensive data and data science,» said its chief digital and supply chain officer, Hizmy Hassen.
The tyre maker is now working on improving its sales forecasting by using AI to check weather conditions, exchange rates, etc. «This will allow us to provide much better availability of stocks at a lower working capital,» he said.
Apollo Tyres has connected most key production machines to the cloud using Internet of Things (IOT) technologies. It has created a data lake and is currently streaming more than 1,500 data elements in near real-time to the cloud to drive machine efficiency.
Flagship company of the Godrej group, Godrej & Boyce is working on implementing AI-powered digital twins for customer, product, process and employees. The digital twins will help in making
