Lok Sabha Polls 2024: Jharkhand Mukti Morcha announces Kalpana Soren's candidacy for Gandey bypoll
Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has revealed its candidate for the upcoming bypoll in the Gandey assembly seat. Kalpana Soren, wife of the incarcerated former chief minister Hemant Soren, will be contesting in the election. The Gandey seat, situated in Giridih district, fell vacant following the resignation of JMM MLA Sarfaraz Ahmad. Kalpana Soren, a homemaker, boasts educational qualifications with both MTech and MBA degrees. She pursued her schooling in Baripada, Odisha's Mayurbhanj district, and furthered her engineering and MBA studies at various institutions in Bhubaneswar. Her foray into politics was highlighted by a speech delivered at the JMM's 51st foundation day celebration in Giridih district on March 4. In her address, she accused her husband's opponents of hatching conspiracies against them since the formation of the Hemant Soren-led coalition government in 2019. She also affirmed that Jharkhand would retaliate against those responsible for her husband's imprisonment.

Rahul Sharma’s has 2 PSU bets for the May series. Here's why
Rahul Sharma, Director & Head — Technical & Derivatives Research, JM Financial Services, says “there are two PSU stocks which we are very confident on. One is from the PSU banking space. The Bank of Baroda looks pretty strong at these levels. We feel there is a strong case for a target of Rs 285-295 on the upside, the PSU banking index has turned around, so can be bought with a stop loss of Rs 251. Another stock which looks good on the power side, Power Finance Corporation (PFC). The stock has been quiet for many weeks now and we feel the time is right for the stock to give an up move, so can be bought with a stop loss of Rs 394 and an initial target of Rs 425.” Today’s the day of the monthly expiry. Should we brace ourselves for a 3 pm move? Rahul Sharma: Yes, it has been quite a subdued one so far. But the good thing is the mid-month crash got over last week. Post that, we have seen a very smart recovery. Now, we are heading on to the main series, which has historically been a very positive month out of like 10 times Nifty has been in the green 7 times in the last decade and at the same time we have also seen ultra-low levels on the India VIX which is suggesting that the option participants are not fearful of like a big down move at this point in time.

Calcutta High Court's cancellation of jobs of 25,753 candidates job spark political tension ahead of 2024 Lok Sabha polls
Calcutta High Court's cancellation of jobs of 25,753 candidates has become a major political flashpoint between BJP and Trinamool in 2024 Lok Sabha polls, with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee urged teachers and school staff not to cast a single vote to BJP, Congress & CPI-M, holding them responsible for their job loss. Meanwhile, BJP assured legal assistance to the eligible candidates who lost their jobs due to the Bengal government not giving a list of ineligible candidates to HC. Banerjee lashed out on the day the Education department of the state government moved to the Supreme Court opposing the verdict. Calling the Court «a pilgrimage for the BJP», Banerjee said. «I will not talk about judges but will discuss the judgements. If there were any faults, this could have been subjected to scrutiny but how are the 26,000 jobs cancelled?»

Snooping is not a good way to keep kids safe online
Recently, reports emerged that India’s ministry of electronics and IT has been working on an app, Safenet, that links parents’ phones with those of their children, so that they can monitor the online activities of their offspring. While parental controls on internet platforms typically offer options of granting app or website access and placing limits on the time spent, Safenet is said to go further by sharing call details and SMS logs, apart from data on all content viewed on platforms like YouTube. The Internet Service Provider Association of India has suggested that this app should be made available by default on all personal devices.

How state-level school boards can promote educational equity
Mission drift, a phenomenon wherein an organization starts focusing on activities that do not align with its foundational mission, has severe consequences for organizations. In his book Good to Great, Jim Collins highlights how companies can falter by straying from their core values and missions, a concept linked to Aristotle’s idea of “telos," or an entity’s ultimate purpose. Aristotle believed that losing sight of this purpose leads to dysfunction and unrealized potential, mirroring the effects of mission drift seen in modern organizations.
