Baroda BNP Paribas Mutual Fund has announced the merger of Baroda BNP Paribas Medium Duration Fund and Baroda BNP Paribas Credit Risk Fund. The fund house informed about the merger to its unitholders through a notice-cum-addendum. Baroda BNP Paribas Medium Duration Fund is an open ended medium term debt scheme investing in instruments such that the Macaulay duration of the portfolio is between three and four years with a relatively high interest rate risk and moderate credit risk scheme. Baroda BNP Paribas Credit Risk Fund is an open-ended debt scheme predominantly investing in AA and below rated corporate bonds (excluding AA+ rated corporate bonds) with a relatively high interest rate risk and relatively high credit risk. The merger of these two schemes will be effective from September 11. Individual communication is also being sent to existing unitholders of both schemes over email, wherever email ID is available. As a result of the merger, no new scheme will come into effect.

However, Hindenburg has doubled down on its claims and responded to Sebi chief's statement that accused the short-seller of attempting a «character assassination». Even though Indian markets as well as analysts have discounted the latest Hindenburg report and the short-seller has itself come under fire after Sebi's show-cause notice to it in June, short-seller attacks constitute a high risk for Indian companies.

asset management firm Neo Group has raised Rs 400 crore (around $47 million) in a fresh equity funding round led by Japanese lender MUFG Bank along with New York-based Euclidean Capital. Rural-focused fintech startup Jai Kisan has obtained a non-banking finance company (NBFC) licence following its acquisition of a majority stake in Kushal Finnovation Capital, an NBFC specialising in supply chain financing. Arjun Ahluwalia, cofounder and chief executive officer of Jai Kisan is a non-executive director of Kushal Finnovation Capital. With this new NBFC licence, Jai Kisan can now offer customised financial products including loans from its own portfolio. The company will also be able to enter into co-lending partnerships with financial institutions, including public sector banks in India.
