Infrastructure major Larsen & Toubro (L&T) on Wednesday said one of its verticals has bagged 'significant' projects from a reputed developer to construct residential towers. The building and factories vertical of Larsen & Toubro will construct residential towers in Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai, L&T said in a regulatory filing. All the projects are to be executed within stringent timelines, the filing said. According to Larsen & Toubro's classification, a 'significant order' refers to a project valued between Rs 1,000 crore and Rs 2,500 crore.

Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) is considering a plan to ease restrictions on short-selling — a trading strategy betting on a decline in prices of an asset-- on most stocks. In a recent meeting of the regulator-appointed secondary market advisory committee (SMAC), the proposal was discussed after broking industry officials highlighted that the market watchdog's January 2024 proposal to bar short-selling in stocks that are not in the future and options segment had caused uncertainty. The new recommendations, if implemented, could allow short-selling in all stocks, barring those in the trade-to-trade, or T2T, segment, said sources with direct knowledge of the matter. Sebi officials, during the discussions, agreed to give the plan another thought, they said. An email to Sebi went unanswered till press time.

Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) are being offered a $50,000 incentive if they are willing to retire or resign as part of an early retirement program, according to an internal memo of the agency. As per Bloomberg, the offer is a voluntary separation incentive or a voluntary early retirement program, with the deadline for the same being March 21.

Reliance Industries electric vehicle battery-making unit has asked the federal government for more time to set up its manufacturing plant as part of a production-linked incentive scheme, the Mukesh Ambani-led conglomerate said on Tuesday. The conglomerate did not specify the length of the extension sought or the reason for the delay. In March 2022, Reliance secured incentives under the government's production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme to establish 5 gigawatts (GW) of local manufacturing capacity for advanced chemistry cells (ACCs).
