As market benchmarks, BSE Sensex and Nifty 50, continue to scale new highs, rich valuations and concerns about the sustainability of the rally are making experts anxious. The analyst ratings compiled by Reuters-Refinitiv show a reduction in the number of ‘buy’ ratings, while the number of ‘sell’ ratings has gone up since the start of 2023-24.

Buy or sell stocks for today: Following strong global market cues on ease in US Fed rate hike tension, Indian stock market finished higher on Friday last week. NSE Nifty went up 150 points and closed at 19,564 levels while BSE Sensex surged 502 points and closed at 66,060 mark. Bank Nifty index gained 154 points and finished at 44,819 levels.

Reliance Industries and Tata Consultancy Services emerging as the biggest gainers, amid an optimistic trend in equities. Last week, the 30-share BSE benchmark jumped 780.45 points or 1.19 per cent.

Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) continued to sell Indian equities this week, with net inflows of ₹2,636.43 crores on July 14, 2023. This brings the total net inflows for the month to ₹14,582.63 crores. The inflow was broad-based, with inflow seen across all sectors.

Sensex closing above 66,000 and the Nifty breaking past 19,500 for the first time after US inflation in June rose at the slowest pace in more than two years, fuelling bets the Federal Reserve may be close to ending its rate-hiking cycle. Foreign fund managers continued to pour money into Indian equities, buying stocks worth ₹2,636.43 crore on Friday as the dollar fell to a 15-month low on easing inflation. During the week, as many as 63 smallcap stocks have delivered double digit weekly returns, 5 of them offered over 25% returns.Zen Technologies was the top gainer from the smallcap pack with nearly 37.2% returns, followed by Lloyds Steels Industries (33.9%), Pix Transmissions (27.9%), and Patel Engineering (26.2%). About 8 stocks, including Moschip Technologies, Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders, Precision Camshafts, HPL Electric, Lloyds Metals, Xchanging Solutions have offered returns between 20 and 25% during the week. In the midcap segment, only 3 stocks, Gillette India, Polycab India and Mphasis have risen in double digits.

Q1 results 2023: India's multinational conglomerate Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) will declare its first quarter earnings for the financial year 2023-24. The board of directors of the Sensex heavyweight is going to consider and approve standalone consolidated and unaudited financial results of the company on 21st July 2023.

Orissa Minerals Development Company(up 7.64%), Ashapura Minechem(up 5.04%), 20 Microns(up 3.38%), Gujarat Mineral Dvpt Corporation(up 2.83%), NMDC Ltd(up 1.39%), KIOCL(up 1.03%) and Coal India(up 0.50%) stood among the top gainers. Lexus Granito(down 7.96%), Madhav Marbles and Granites(down 2.29%), Pokarna(down 2.14%), MOIL(down 1.13%) and Aro Granite Industries(down 0.79%) were among the top losers of the day.

Kothari Sugars & Chemicals(up 3.91%), Uttam Sugar Mills(up 2.84%), BAJAJHIND(up 2.41%), Dalmia Bharat Sugar & Industries(up 2.15%), AVADHSUGAR(up 2.08%), Balrampur Chini Mills(up 1.58%), Rajshree Sugars & Chemicals(up 1.50%), Triveni Engineering & Industries(up 1.08%), Dhampur Sugar Mills(up 0.95%) and Vishwaraj Sugar Industries(up 0.93%) stood among the top gainers. DCM Shriram Industries(down 2.21%), K.M.Sugar Mills(down 0.58%), MAGADHSUGAR(down 0.24%) and EID Parry(down 0.20%) were among the top losers of the day.

Rising for the second straight session, the BSE benchmark Sensex advanced 502 points or 0.77% to close above 66,000-mark. NSE Nifty surged 151 points or 0.78% to end at 19,564.

BSE at 01:31PM (IST) on Friday, up 0.08 per cent from previous close. The scrip quoted a 52-week low price of Rs 2250.85 and a high of Rs 2916.85.

Siemens Ltd. fell 0.74 per cent to Rs 3694.0 at 01:37PM hours (IST) on Friday. Earlier in the day, the stock saw a gap up start to the session.

ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company Ltd. gained 0.63 per cent to Rs 1366.1 in Friday's session as of 12:50PM (IST) even as the equity benchmark Sensex traded 202.09 points higher at 65760.98. Earlier in the day, the stock witnessed a gap down start to the session.
