Drew Barrymore removed from stage at New York’s 92nd Street Y event. Here’s what happened
Drew Barrymore was taken off the stage during an event in New York City after an audience disruption. The talk show host and actor appeared at the 92nd Street Y as part of the Recanati-Kaplan Talks series to support singer-songwriter and actor Reneé Rapp’s new LP Snow Angel. During their conversation, a man in the crowd walked down the aisle and shouted Barrymore’s name. He identified himself as Chad Michael Busto and said he needed to see her while in New York. Barrymore greeted him and was escorted offstage by Rapp. Security then removed the man from the venue. They returned to the stage a few minutes later and continued the conversation. Barrymore praised Rapp for her quick response and jokingly referred to her as protective. The event proceeded without further interruption. Barrymore interviewed Rapp about her new album and her involvement in various projects. Barrymore left the stage as planned after the event. Rapp performed three songs from her new LP and thanked the audience for their composure during the incident. Last year, a disruptive audience member interrupted a play in New York, and the police were involved in removing them. The music industry has also seen disruptions during performances by artists like Pink, Harry Styles, Bebe Rexha, and Cardi B.

Snoop Dogg’s Houston Concert Hospitalizations: Here’s what happened
Snoop Dogg concert in Houston, causing 16 individuals to be taken to nearby hospitals. The event took place at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion and temperatures reached 104 degrees during the day. Around 35 people displayed signs of heat-related issues and were assessed at the venue. An additional group of more than 12 individuals were sent to hospitals from the concert site. Misti Willingham, the public information officer of Montgomery County Hospital District, stated that the MCHD EMS took these 16 adults to hospitals in stable condition. Due to the ongoing effects of global climate change contributing to an exceptionally hot summer, the local fire department was deployed to the scene as a precaution. The fire department's intervention was considered an effective measure when enacted early. The Atascocita Fire Department shared that they were assisting overheated concert goers at the Snoop Dogg show through a tweet during the event. Snoop Dogg is currently touring with Too $hort and Wiz Khalifa on the High School Reunion tour. Their next stop is scheduled for the Isleta Amphitheater in Albuquerque, NM on August 22. This occurrence is part of a series of heat-related incidents this summer. In a previous incident, during an Ed Sheeran concert in Pittsburgh on July 8, 17 people were hospitalized due to heat-related illnesses. Moreover, Jason Aldean had to cut short the start of his Highway Desperado Tour on July 15 in Hartford, CT, due to dehydration and heat exhaustion.

Onion clamps
export duty on onions hasn’t gone down well with traders, with auctions being called off indefinitely in Nashik and farmer bodies protesting too. That disgruntlement is rife, although the promise of central procurement rates being raised above what onion farmers would get in export markets shows that this assurance has fallen flat.

Banking system liquidity in deficit as incremental cash reserve ratio kicks in
banking system has slipped into a deficit for the first time in FY24 as the Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) decision to impound a chunk of banks' extra funds — and hence reduce inflation risks — has led to a cash shortfall amid tax outflows. Daily central bank data showed that the RBI injected funds worth ₹23,644.4 crore into the banking system on August 21, marking the first infusion of cash since March 27. An injection of funds by the RBI reflects deficit liquidity conditions in the banking system. In its last policy statement on August 10, the RBI announced an incremental cash reserve ratio (ICRR) of 10% that banks must maintain on the rise in their deposits from May 19 to July 28.

India, Iran drop arbitration clause for Chabahar port
NEW DELHI : India and Iran have agreed not to seek commercial foreign arbitration for disputes between users and operators at Chabahar Port, paving the way for the two sides to sign a long-term deal for the development of the strategic port, two persons aware of the development said. They said a team from the ministry of port and shipping is expected to visit Iran in September to try and reach an agreement over the rules of engagement and mode of arbitration. This would be followed up with the two countries reaching a formal agreement for long-term operation of the port located in South-east Iran, with an unhindered sea route to India’s West coast.

Data compiled by Mint for 42 cement companies showed that the net profit improvement was tepid at 5.8% year-on-year (y-o-y) during Q1. Also, on a sequential basis the net profit declined 12%.
