Waves show country voice social generative AI NOT Generative AI to augment jobs, not destroy them: ILO study
ILO) said, adding that the impact on employment would be more on high-income countries and among females. According to the ILO study, Generative AI and Jobs: A global analysis of potential effects on job quantity and quality, most jobs and industries are only partly exposed to automation and are more likely to be complemented rather than substituted by the latest wave of Generative AI, such as chatGPT. “Therefore, the greatest impact of this technology is likely to not be job destruction but rather the potential changes to the quality of jobs, notably work intensity and autonomy,” it said. As per the study, 5.5% of total employment in high-income countries is potentially exposed to the automating effects of the technology, whereas in low-income countries, the risk of automation concerns only some 0.4% of employment. The study further shows that the potential effects of Generative AI are likely to differ significantly for men and women with more than twice the share of female employment potentially affected by automation. “This is due to women’s over-representation in clerical work, especially in high and middle-income countries,” it said, adding that one result of Generative AI could be that certain clerical jobs may never emerge in lower-income countries. According to the study, clerical work has the greatest technological exposure with nearly a quarter of tasks considered highly exposed and more than half of tasks having medium-level exposure. On the other hand, the potential for augmentation is nearly equal across countries, suggesting that with the right policies in place, this new wave of technological transformation could offer important benefits for developing countries, the ILO said. According to the ILO, there

Golden Maknae seems to have landed in trouble! K-pop sensation Jungkook, whose debut single ‘Seven’ created history by grabbing top slots in the Global Spotify Chart, UK Singles Chart, and US Billboard Chart, is now facing accusations of plagiarism. A mere month after the romantic summer bop landed atop the US Billboard 100 chart, K-pop producer Yang Joong Young has alleged that ‘Seven’ is eerily similar to ‘Time Of Mask’ a song he composed for the girl group Fin.KL. According to a Koreaboo report, the melodic tone of both songs has more than a passing resemblance. As the news went viral on X (formerly named Twitter), many ARMYs came to Jungkook’s defense, pointing out that the two songs sounded nothing similar. Some fans claimed that ‘Time Of Mask’ resembled a Spice Girl single ‘Say You Will Be There’. “You know what's more intriguing besides the songs not being anything alike? is that the said song they claim was plagiarized is identical to «Say You'll Be There» by Spice Girls,” wrote a Twitter user.

UPS Lowe's shootings show performer Time Price pressure to remain elevated for some time but latest spike in food inflation transitory: FinMin
finance ministry said on Tuesday, even as it expected the latest spike in food inflation to be “transitory” on the back of steady farm sector performance, fresh arrivals in the market and the government’s “pre-emptive measures” to boost essential supplies. Nevertheless, in its monthly economic report for July, the department of economic affairs (DEA) called for greater vigilance by both the fiscal and monetary authorities on the price front. It, however, pointed at the emergence of “green shoots of a private capex upcycle”, adding that the government’s persistent emphasis on budgetary capital spending in recent years is now crowding in private investments, as evident in the performance of various high-frequency indicators and industry reports.

COST Manufacturing Platform show NOT Indians still not preferring high-value FMCG products, pick smaller packs instead: Report
inflation on an annual basis, Indians are still not opting for high-priced large consumer product packs, a TOI report showed on Tuesday. Citing research from retail intelligence platform Bizom, the report said that the sales growth in high-value packs across FMCG categories shrank in July over the previous year. Low-and-mid-priced packs still figured among the preferred alternatives for most Indians as prices of large packs remain higher than expected. «When the price of a pack rises above a certain psychological threshold — say a Rs 100 pack becomes Rs 110 — then it's difficult to get consumers to purchase these packs. Moreover, e-commerce and quick commerce, where consumers make impulse purchases of small-and-mid-priced packs, continues to grow faster than modern trade where high-value packs are usually bought,» said Mayank Shah, senior category head at Parle Products. He added that consumers are okay with grammage reductions because extra money does not go out of their pockets.

COST UPS Lowe's show country Low India's July Russian oil imports dip; Saudi import down to 2-1/2-year low
crude oil imports from Russia dipped for the first time in nine months, while inbound shipments from Saudi Arabia tumbled to their lowest in 2-1/2 years following OPEC+ cuts, tanker data from trade and industry sources showed. Both China and India, the world's biggest and third-biggest oil importers, cut imports from Russia and Saudi Arabia in July after prices rose and as the two oil producers reduced output and crude oil shipments. Saudi Arabia volunteered to cut output by another 1 million barrels per day (bpd) from July through September, and Russia will reduce exports in August by 500,000 bpd, part of a deal among members of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and its allies, a grouping know as OPEC+, to curb supplies and support prices. India's overall imports also declined 5.2% from June to 4.4 million bpd oil in July, the data showed, as several refining plants are shut for maintenance during monsoon season.Russian oil imports declined 5.7% to 1.85 million bpd and Saudi shipments fell by 26% to 470,000 bpd, the data showed. India imports more than 80% of its overall oil needs. Indian refiners that have been diversifying their oil import sources to cut costs began snapping up Russian oil at a discount as some Western companies stopped purchasing from Moscow following its invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. India's import of Russian oil may now decline further in August and September, however, as refiners plan maintenance at their plants and as Russian crude prices are above the $60-a-barrel ceiling imposed by the European Union and G7 economies after spot discounts shrank, sources said. Russia was still the top oil supplier to India in July, though, followed by Iraq and Saudi Arabia.
