Did Kamala Harris's tan suit at the DNC echo Barack Obama's 2014 controversy?
Kamala Harris attracted attention for her outfit choice rather than her beliefs. Reminiscent of former President Barack Obama's famous fashion moment, the Vice President showed up in a tan suit with a white top. Obama, who typically wore navy or black suits, caused a stir in 2014 when he showed up for a press conference on ISIS wearing a similar tan suit—a decision that some felt was unsuitable for such a serious event, as per the reports of The U.S Sun.

CCI tunes in to RIL-Disney merger show, raises query
CCI) has asked Reliance Industries and Walt Disney as to why their proposed $8.5-billion merger of media assets in the country should not be probed over antitrust concerns, people aware of the development said. This could potentially delay regulatory clearance for the deal that is set to create India’s largest entertainment player, but such notices don’t mean the deal would be automatically derailed, they said. If anything, such notices give the parties a chance to address the antitrust regulator’s concerns through adequate explanations, further commitments or actions, a regulatory official told ET.

Dr Biden & Mr Joe, a transformatory tale
Chicago Monday evening — a warmer Tuesday afternoon across India that seems to be always ahead of America — an elderly gentleman, confident on the stage, came across a veritable hero before his rousing, cheering audience. In theory, he was the same person who, in late June at the first presidential debate with Donald Trump, looked confused, lost and old. In practice, though, Joe Biden at the Democratic National Convention, almost two months older now, was a changed man as he took the adulation from the very same lot who had — for legitimate reasons — given him the shove from a re-election bid.

A nation of workaholics has a new fixation: working less
Fleiß, which can translate as diligence or industriousness. Fleiß shaped the political conversation during the eurozone debt crisis of 2010, when many German voters resented having to bail out their Greek cousins who retired at 57 and, going by the news footage, seemed to spend their lives sipping espresso on cafe terraces. Fast-forward to today and the average Greek worked 1,897 hours last year, according to the OECD, 554 hours more than the average German.

Jio leads in user growth & market share, Airtel expands 4G, 5G base; Vi continues to struggle: Report
Jio added way more active users than Bharti Airtel in June 2024, but the Sunil Mittal-led telco added more higher-paying 4G and 5G users than its closest rival in that month. Vodafone Idea (Vi) continued to lose active users but gained some 3G and 4G users, according to latest telco subscriber data released by the regulator Tuesday. Jio added nearly 4 million active users to Airtel’s modest 0.67 million additions in June, while Vi lost as many as 2.71 million active users, latest customer data put out by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) showed. Vi’s heavy losses on this score underlined its continuing inability to fight bigger rivals, Jio and Airtel. As per Trai data, Jio, Airtel and Vi’s active user bases were at 440.94 million, 384.83 million and 188.26 million respectively in end-June.
