Cybersecurity is among the top three important segments for companies in the Indian financial services industry but there is a gap in the industry needs and the availability of skills. Companies in general are looking for experienced professionals but this being a nascent segment, Indian universities have not been producing as many skilled professionals as the industry needs. «The Indian curriculum is more focused on AI, ML, and other data science courses but not cybersecurity,» said Abhik Chatterjee at Boston Consulting Group, which advises top banks in the country.

Still, «we need to show there is a path to a lower-tax economy,» he added.

'Horrendous events' in Gaza in past days 'beggar belief': UN rights chief
Gaza in recent days is unfathomable, the UN rights chief said Sunday, with attacks on schools harbouring displaced people and a hospital turned into a «death zone». «The horrendous events of the past 48 hours in Gaza beggar belief,» United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk said in a statement. He spoke as the World Health Organization scrambled to evacuate the last remaining patients and staff from the Al-Shifa hospital, with UN officials describing the Palestinian territory's largest health facility, raided last week by Israeli troops, as a «death zone». Elsewhere in northern Gaza, a Hamas health official said more than 80 people were killed on Saturday in twin strikes on Jabalia refugee camp, including on a UN school sheltering displaced people. «The killing of so many people at schools turned shelters, hundreds fleeing for their lives from Al-Shifa Hospital, amid continuing displacement of hundreds of thousands in southern Gaza, are actions which fly in the face of the basic protections civilians must be afforded under international law,» Turk said. He described the images purportedly taken in the aftermath of the reported Israeli strike on the UN-run Al-Fakhura school as «horrifying», and «clearly showing large numbers of women, children and men severely wounded or killed». — 'May constitute war crimes' - The UN rights chief pointed out that in Khan Younis in southern Gaza, the Israeli military «are dropping leaflets demanding residents go to unspecified „recognised shelters“, even as strikes take place across Gaza». «Irrespective of warnings, Israel is obliged to protect civilians wherever they are», he said, pointing to the principles under international law of distinction,

5 records Mohammed Shami broke in World Cup 2023
World Cup 2023's top wicket taker Mohammed Shami had to sit out for the first four matches of the tournament. Then he made a big comeback. The veteran Shami, 33, came into the side after an injury to all-rounder Hardik Pandya and soon made an impact with a five-wicket haul against New Zealand in Dharamsala. Later in the semifinal he took 7-57 in the semi-final against New Zealand in Mumbai. «It was tough for him to not play the initial part of the World Cup, looking at him being one of the senior bowlers for us,» said Rohit. «But he was there for the team. He was there to help Siraj, he was there to help Bumrah in whatever way he could. And that shows the quality of him, being the team man that he is.» «The results are there for everyone to see how he has come back from that. That shows the kind of mental space that Shami had before the World Cup and now.» Shami has claimed close to 200 wickets in 100 ODIs for India since his debut in 2013.

Why Americans feel gloomy about the economy despite falling inflation and low unemployment
Last week, the government reported that consumer prices didn't rise at all from September to October, the latest sign that inflation is steadily cooling from the heights of last year. A separate report showed that while Americans slowed their retail purchases in October from the previous month's brisk pace, they're still spending enough to drive economic growth. Even so, according to a poll last month by The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research, about three-quarters of respondents described the economy as poor.

Video clip of K'taka CM’s son’s conversation: Kumaraswamy raises more questions, CM offers to retire from politics if charges proved
Siddaramaiah and JDS state president HD Kumaraswamy lashed out at each other on Sunday as the latter stuck to his allegation that the CM and his son Dr Yathindra indulged in corruption in the transfer of officials. The JDS leader in a series of posts on social media platform X as well as in a press statement threw some more questions at the CM, not satisfied by the explanation he had offered about the mobile conversation his son had with one of his officials. The CM, in a chat with the media, offered to retire from politics if Kumaraswamy established he made money in official transfers. Kumaraswamy was now talking about the “money transactions in transfers’ during his own tenue as chief minister, Siddaramaiah said, seeking to turn the tables on his bitter rival. The two leaders were once part of the JDS, and Siddaramaiah switched to the Congress in 2005 after his expulsion from the party over differences with HD Deve Gowda.
