Fundamentalist threats against ISKCON devotees increasing in Bangladesh: Radharamn Das
fundamentalist groups in Bangladesh are openly delivering sermons calling for the extermination of ISKCON devotees and their supporters. In a post on X, Das claimed, «In the past few days, fundamentalists in Bangladesh have been crisscrossing the country in private jets, delivering sermons calling for the extermination of ISKCON devotees and their supporters… the inaction of the Bangladeshi government in addressing these fundamentalists is even more appalling.» A purported video, which could not be independently verified by PTI, has also surfaced on social media showing a Bangladeshi fundamentalist leader allegedly referring to ISKCON as «a cancer» and urging followers to «uproot all ISKCON establishments» from Bangladesh. Das warned that such unchecked hate speech and instigation could trigger mass violence against minorities. «These individuals must be arrested immediately. Wake up, world,» he urged.

Maharashtra Congress chief urges ECI, SC to consider 'public demand' for ballot paper voting
Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole on Sunday urged the Supreme Court and the Election Commission to take note of the «growing public demand» for ballot paper voting in view of «doubts» about the mandate in assembly elections. The opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi has upped the ante against Electronic Voting Machines (EVMS) after the BJP-led Mahayuti won 230 out of 288 seats in the Maharashtra assembly elections. Patole claimed the Mahayuti victory didn't reflect the mandate of the people. «There is a widespread confusion among people about the new state government. A strong sentiment suggests that the government doesn't reflect the people's mandate,» Patole told reporters.

Hassabis, who jointly won with Americans David Baker and John Jumper for revealing the secrets of proteins through AI, said such evolutionary speed posed a giant challenge.

Budget 2025: CII urges govt to stick to fiscal deficit target
fiscal deficit target of 4.9 per cent of GDP for 2024-25 and 4.5 per cent for 2025-26, cautioning that «overly aggressive targets» beyond these could adversely affect India's economic growth. «India has been growing rapidly amidst a slowing global economy. Prudent fiscal management for macroeconomic stability has been pivotal to this growth,» said Chandrajit Banerjee, Director General, CII, elaborating on suggestions for the forthcoming Union Budget. CII also highlighted the announcement in the Union Budget 2024-25 to keep the fiscal deficit at levels that help reduce the debt-to-GDP ratio. In preparation for this, the forthcoming budget could lay out a glide path to bring the central government's debt to below 50 per cent of GDP in the medium term (by 2030-31), and below 40 per cent of GDP in the long term, CII has suggested.

Why are cattles in Uttar Pradesh glowing during the night? Yogi Adityanath's govt behind it
In Pilibhit, where the initiative first began, the task of turning stray cattle into beacons has proven both bold and challenging, with obstacles as formidable as the animals it aims to protect. On three key highways—Bareilly-Haridwar NH-74, Pilibhit-Basti NH-730, and Bhind-Lipulekh NH-731—teams of workers attached reflective tapes to 450 stray bulls. The project, costing Rs 400 per animal, was designed to increase visibility, especially for those with black coats that tend to blend into the night. The initiative’s success is largely attributed to the active support of local villagers. “It’s an ambitious project,” said Virendra Singh, the assistant regional transport officer leading the effort. Villagers not only backed the initiative but also funded much of its cost.
