Ashwini Vaishnaw welcomed Elon Musk's Starlink on Wednesday, highlighting its potential to benefit railway projects in remote areas. «Starlink, welcome to India! Will be useful for remote area railway projects,» said Vaishnaw in a statement on X. Billionaire Mukesh Ambani's Jio Platforms has struck a deal with SpaceX, the aerospace company led by Musk, to bring Starlink's broadband internet services to India, a surprise move that follows months of bickering over how Musk's venture should be granted spectrum rights. The deal with Musk — considered the right-hand-man of US President Donald Trump — came a day after telecom tycoon Sunil Bharti Mittal's Bharti Airtel signed a similar partnership deal with SpaceX.

Reliance joins the race! Jio signs deal to bring SpaceX's Starlink internet to India after Airtel's pact
Reliance Jio has announced a partnership with Elon Musk’s SpaceX to offer Starlink satellite internet services in India. The deal, however, hinges on government approval before SpaceX can begin operations in the country. Under the agreement, Jio will make Starlink equipment available in its retail stores and online platforms while also providing installation support. This collaboration comes after a previous clash between the two companies over spectrum allocation for satellite services. While Jio pushed for an auction, the Indian government sided with Musk’s preference for administrative allocation, in line with global practices. Jio’s announcement comes just a day after Bharti Airtel inked a similar deal with SpaceX. Airtel, which has a long-standing presence in satellite communications through its OneWeb project, is positioning itself to leverage Starlink’s capabilities. The two telecom giants are now set to compete not only in traditional broadband but also in the satellite internet space. Both deals are conditional upon Starlink obtaining government approval to begin operations in the country.

Chinese investors privately take stakes in Elon Musk's companies: report
Chinese investors are funneling tens of millions of dollars into private companies controlled by billionaire Elon Musk, using an arrangement that shields their identities from public view, the Financial Times reported on Sunday. The investments are being placed through special-purpose vehicles to avoid the ire of U.S authorities and companies wary of Chinese capital during a low-point in relations between the two countries, the report said, citing asset managers and investors involved in the transactions. Three Chinese-backed asset managers told the Financial Times that they had sold more than $30 million of shares in SpaceX, xAI and Neuralink, three Musk-controlled private technology companies, to investors over the past two years.
