National Conference President Farooq Abdullah has reaffirmed his commitment to restoring statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, expressing confidence that it will be achieved. «How many days have passed since the new government was formed? Speaking at the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit, Aditya Birla Group Chairman KM Birla said the group firm has taken tough decisions, including the acquisition of Novelis by Hindalco, to build scale and aims to expand cement business from 100 million tonnes to 200 million tonnes over the next 10 years. He said most of the group's investments are long-term, with a business outlook over the next 15-20 years, while consumer businesses have a shorter span. «We have USD 20 billion of announced investments that are on the ground. Obviously, you look at it because a lot of them are in the manufacturing space. You would look at the next 15-20 years. Shorter than that doesn't make sense in that kind of business… If, on the other hand, you're looking at fashion retail or jewellery retail or financial services, then you are looking at a much shorter time frame,» Birla said.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu's younger brother N Ramamurthy Naidu passed away at a private super-speciality hospital here on Saturday, while undergoing treatment for health complications, the hospital said. He was 72. Ramamurthy Naidu, who was admitted to the hospital on November 14 following a cardiac arrest, breathed his last at 12.45 PM, the hospital said in a bulletin. Ramamurthy Naidu was suffering from "non-communicating normal pressure hydrocephalus (buildup of fluid in brain), post VP shunt", it said. He was receiving intermittent ventilatory support in the past for respiratory distress.

Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) have maintained their bearish stance on Indian markets in November, extending their massive selloff from October, already pulling out Rs 22,420 crores in the first half of November, according to NSDL data. The FPIs had offloaded a staggering Rs 1,13,858 crore in October.
