All these are very clearly signs of froth being built up in certain areas.”Do you think a lot of spaces are getting overbought, overvalued now and one needs to have a lot of caution while making fresh investments into any of those verticals?I would think so. In the small and midcap space, we have seen very sharp run-ups especially in anything related to capital goods, defence and railways; some of these have started becoming extremely expensive. We are starting to counter a lot of the optimism around some of these themes. In some cases, actual implementation and actual growth around capital goods will take some more time. We are factoring in all of this positivity up front and seeing this in this space but across the range, we are more concerned around mid and smallcaps compared to the largecap space. We are seeing greater value and greater comfort in largecaps. That is broadly the way we are seeing the market.

Nifty Bank option contracts to Wednesdays from this week, derivative contracts of Nifty and Nifty Bank will no longer expire on the same trading day. Under the new rules, announced in July, Nifty Bank weekly index options will expire every Wednesday instead of Thursday from September 6. But for monthly and quarterly contracts of the widely-tracked banking index, there is no change and will continue to expire on the last Thursday of the expiry month. The split in expiry days of weekly and monthly contracts would mean that in September, the first three expiries would be on Wednesday and the last one (monthly) would be on Thursday. If Wednesday is a trading holiday, then the expiry day would be the previous trading session. The change in expiry may lead to change in strategy for some option traders, especially those who trade Nifty and Nifty Bank ratio strategies.

Mirae Asset has acquired a pre-leased and income-producing warehousing property spread over 11 acres in Bhiwandi near Mumbai from property and logistics developer BGR Constructions LLP, furthering its investments into logistics and industrial real estate in India. The company’s India arm, Mirae Asset Investment Managers (India), has made this acquisition of a logistics facility in BGR Logistics Park with over 500,000 sq ft leasable area through a category II alternative investment fund (AIF), Mirae Asset Credit Opportunities Fund, for around Rs 175 crore. “This acquisition is in line with our strategy to acquire core assets in tier-1 cities. We will continue to evaluate and invest in such grade-A assets across major warehousing hubs as we expand our presence in India,” Hakim Ronak, head-real estate investments, Mirae Asset Investment Managers (India), told ET. This is Mirae Asset’s second such transaction in the last six months and with this, it now owns around 800,000 sq ft warehousing space with a total investment of over Rs 300 crore in Bhiwandi alone.
