Allahabad HC rejects anticipatory bail plea of teacher who asked Class 2 students to slap Muslim boy
Allahabad High Court has rejected the anticipatory bail plea of a school teacher who asked class 2 students to slap their Muslim friend, a lawyer said on Thursday about the incident that sparked widespread outrage last year. A bench comprising Justice Deepak Verma refused to grant the relief and directed the applicant to surrender before the court concerned within two weeks from the date of the order and apply for regular bail, the plaintiff's lawyer said. «The lower court had already rejected the anticipatory bail plea on October 16. Now, the high court has upheld that decision, rejecting the teacher's plea on November 23,» Kamran Zaidi, the lawyer representing the victim, said. According to the prosecution, police filed a charge sheet against Tripti Tyagi under several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including Section 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), Section 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), and Section 295A (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings).

NASA astronauts Sunita Williams and Butch Willmore hit six-month mark in space, countdown to Earth is on
Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore embarked on a historic mission in June, being the first to fly Boeing's new Starliner crew capsule to the International Space Station (ISS). The mission, intended as a weeklong test flight, faced significant challenges when thruster failures and helium leaks occurred during the journey. NASA subsequently deemed the capsule unsafe for a return flight, extending the astronauts' stay in orbit to February 2024, when they are expected to return aboard a SpaceX spacecraft. Despite the unexpected turn of events, Williams and Wilmore, both retired Navy captains, have embraced their extended mission with resilience and positivity. «We’re just on a different path,» Wilmore commented on their situation.

After maths, CBSE mulls standard, advanced levels for science, social science for classes 9-10
CBSE) is considering introducing two levels of science and social science — standard and advanced — for students in Classes 9 and 10, according to officials. The board already offers two levels of mathematics for Class 10 students. Its curriculum committee has approved the idea, which is in line with the new National Education Policy (NEP). However, the board's governing body is yet to give its nod. According to the NEP, all subjects and corresponding assessments, beginning with mathematics, could be offered at two levels with some students studying subjects at the standard level and others at the advanced level. «The proposal was approved by the curriculum committee. However, the logistics and the framework are yet to be worked out. Currently, we offer only one subject at two levels in Class 10. While the syllabus for students opting for maths (standard) and maths (basic) is the same, the question papers and the difficulty level of the questions in the board exam differ,» a senior CBSE official said.

Aligarh: Teenager dies of heart attack during sports practice, fifth such case this month
Aligarh died after suffering a heart attack while practicing for a school sports competition on Friday. Mohit Chaudhary, a Class 8 student, had completed two rounds of running with his friends before collapsing. His friends immediately informed his family, who rushed him to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, doctors declared him dead upon arrival, a TOI report stated. Mohit’s neighbor, Virendra Singh, shared that the boy had been passionate about running and was preparing diligently for the competition scheduled for December 7. “The boy’s father had died in a road accident in August. Mohit and his mother were living with relatives. He was passionate about running and was eagerly preparing for the competition, hoping to make his mother proud. We often saw him practicing rigorously, determined to secure first place at the competition,” Singh said. This tragic incident follows another heart attack death in the region. On Saturday night, an 8-year-old girl named Diksha Kumari from Lodhi Nagar passed away after experiencing severe chest pain at home. Her family said that Diksha had been practicing for her school’s annual function, set for Sunday. “Diksha was excited about her dance performance at the annual function. She would often tell neighbors, ‘Please come to watch my performance,’” her uncle, Virendra Rajput, said. He added that Diksha was healthy and had no prior health issues.
