Sheikh Hasina in India? Bangladesh PM flees in helicopter. Watch viral video
Sheikh Hasina reportedly resigned today and left the country amid massive protests against her government. The demonstrations, which have led to the deaths of over 106 people since Sunday, were sparked by a controversial quota system. This system reserved 30 percent of government jobs for relatives of veterans who fought in Bangladesh's War of Independence in 1971. However, there has been no official confirmation regarding her resignation or departure from Dhaka. The news channel reported that Hasina was forced to quit as prime minister due to the protests. The army chief is expected to address the nation shortly, according to various reports. Amid all these reports, a video has gone viral in which a woman can be seen leaving Dhaka in a military helicopter.

Coaching centre deaths: SC takes suo motu cognisance, issues notices to Centre, Delhi govt
Supreme Court on Monday took suo motu cognisance of the deaths of three civil services aspirants in the basement of a coaching centre here and sought responses from the Centre and the Delhi government. A bench of Justices Surya Kant and Ujjal Bhuyan said the recent incident in the national capital was an eye-opener for all. «These places (coaching centres) have become death chambers. Coaching institutes can operate online unless there is full compliance of the safety norms and basic norms for a dignified life. Coaching centres are playing with the lives of aspirants who come from different parts of the country,» the bench said. On Friday, the Delhi High Court transferred the probe into the deaths of the three students at Rau's IAS Study Circle in Old Rajinder Nagar from the city police to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) «to ensure the public has no doubt over the investigation».

Super 30's Anand Kumar predicts 90% coaching centres will disappear in next 10-15 years. Here's why?
coaching centres will shut down within the next 10 to 15 years. This forecast follows a tragic incident in Delhi's Old Rajinder Nagar area, where three civil services aspirants tragically drowned on July 27 due to flooding in a coaching centre's basement. In an interview with ANI, Kumar emphasized the need for a shift towards online education. «With the current pace of developments, I foresee a major transition in the coaching sector. Only a small fraction of online educational experiments have been conducted so far. Once high-quality online content and effective teaching methodologies are developed, online coaching will become more prevalent due to its cost efficiency and convenience for students,» Kumar stated.

Pakistan mission in Dhaka suspected of backing anti-Hasina movement
Bangladesh has accused the Pakistan High Commission in Dhaka of interfering in the internal affairs of the country through its tacit support and active guidance to the radical student protestors in the country. This comes as the movement led by radical Jamaat-e-Islami and the opposition BNP intensified in Bangladesh. Several reports suggested that the Pakistan mission is in touch with a section of student protesters belonging to pro-Pakistan Jamaat, which is banned in Bangladesh. The country has seen weeks of often violent protests over Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina-led government's decision to offer quota in government jobs to children of 1971 freedom fighters as opposed to family members of pro-Pakistan and anti-liberation figures during the country's freedom struggle.

Manipur: 10 Kuki MLAs urge govt not to withdraw Assam Rifles from hill areas
Kuki MLAs urged the Prime Minister and Home Minister separately not to withdraw two battalions of Assam Rifles from the Kuki-Zo-Hmar inhabited tribal areas. The ten tribal MLAs, including two ministers — Nemcha Kipgen and Letpao Haokip – in separate memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah said that it is pertinent to cite that the un-biased service of the Assam Rifles in the fringe areas has been obviously instrumental in prevention of further escalation of violence till date. “The role played by Assam Rifles so far in maintenance of law and order is absolutely neutral,” the legislators said in their Friday’s memorandum, released to the media on Saturday.

Tension mounts afresh in Bangladesh as student movement leaders refuse PM Hasina's call for dialogue
Sheikh Hasina's invitation for talks while protesters laid siege on major streets in the capital, days after more than 200 people died in anti-quota protests. Bangladesh recently witnessed violent clashes between the police and mostly student protesters demanding an end to a controversial quota system that reserved 30 per cent of government jobs for relatives of veterans who fought in Bangladesh's War of Independence in 1971. Witnesses said students protesting blocked major roads of Dhaka causing traffic snarls while officials said security forces were ordered to keep intensified vigil as protesters started rallying at different city points. On Friday, Prime Minister Hasina urged the agitating students to meet at her Ganabhaban official residence for talks to end the violence over the quota system in government jobs.

Telangana to provide free power supply to 30,000 govt schools
Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Friday said the state government would provide free electricity to about 30,000 government schools as part of measures to improve infrastructure facilities. Addressing a convention of teachers who have recently been promoted, he also said Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal won elections thrice as he improved government schools and provided quality education to the poor. Observing that electricity supply is a sine qua non for imparting quality education in schools, including using computers, he said power supply was stopped by the energy department when electricity bills of schools were not paid, he said. «When (free power) is given to farmers and 200 units free (power) is provided to the poor, why cannot free electricity be provided in schools where Telangana's future is built. I gave directives to our government officials to provide free power to the 30,000 schools in Telangana. The state government will take that burden,» he said.

Medical education was open business before NEET, PG seats were sold for Rs 8-13 cr: Health Minister Nadda
Health Minister J P Nadda on Friday defended the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET), which is under the scanner over paper leak cases, saying medical education had become an open business before the NEET was introduced and PG seats were sold for Rs 8 crore-13 crore each. The minister intervened during a discussion on a private member resolution moved by DMK Rajya Sabha member M Mohmed Abdulla on the NEET. The minister said corruption was rife in medical education before the NEET was brought in during his first stint as health minister. «Medical education had become the den of a business. When I was health minister and was bringing NEET, one seat of post graduation was sold for Rs 8 crore each and if you had to opt for a discipline like radiology then it was Rs 12-13 crore,» Nadda said.
