Paruchuri Abhijit, a 20-year-old student from Guntur district, met a tragic end at the hands of unidentified assailants in the United States. His lifeless body was discovered inside a car abandoned in a forest. Abhijit, the only son of Paruchuri Chakradhar and Srilakshmi, had been regarded as a brilliant student from his early years. Despite initial reluctance from his mother regarding his desire to pursue higher education abroad, she eventually relented, considering his future prospects, according to family members, Times of India reported. Securing a seat in engineering, Abhijit ventured to Boston University for his studies. The motive behind his murder is speculated to be related to monetary gain and the theft of his laptop. However, suspicions have arisen regarding the circumstances of the murder, hinting at potential altercations with fellow students at the university. This tragic incident adds to a series of assaults on Indians and Indian-Americans in the United States in recent times. Among them was Amarnath Ghosh, a 34-year-old accomplished Kuchipudi and Bharatnatyam dancer from India, pursuing his master's degree at Washington University. It is important to make the German labour market attractive for Indian students after they get their educational degrees to address the increasing gap in skilled workers in the German labour market,” German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) president, Dr Joybrato Mukherjee, said during a press briefing in New Delhi. He added that following the discussions between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz last year; and Germany’s newly enacted Skilled Immigration Act; Indian students will find a smoother pathway into the German labour market. “For Indian students, who have got German degrees many of which are taught in English; the way to getting employment in Germany and other Schengen area countries is now more attractive. We believe in the concept of brain circulation rather than brain drain and we think that international students who are well qualified can follow a very successful professional career path in Germany,” Dr Mukherjee said.

Target FIVE Research students Universities reports gatherings Orcas that hunt sperm whales may be new population, study suggests
Researchers from the University of British Columbia said they’ve identified a potentially new population of open-ocean orcas, which hunt the biggest predators on the planet. In a study published Friday, researchers said a group of 49 orcas has been observed hunting sperm whales off the coast of California and Oregon.Lead author Josh McInnes said the orcas were seen hunting a herd of nine adult sperm whales, “eventually making off with one.”It’s the first time killer whales have been reported attacking sperm whales on the West Coast, he said.“Other encounters include an attack on a Pygmy sperm whale, predation on a northern elephant seal and Risso’s dolphin, and what appeared to be a post-meal lull after scavenging a leatherback turtle,” said McInnes, who is a masters student in the UBC Institute for the Oceans and Fisheries.Researchers said the orcas that were observed in nine encounters from 1997 to 2021 could either belong to a subpopulation of transient killer whales or a unique oceanic population. The study said the encounter that was witnessed with the sperm whales occurred in 1997 about 130 kilometres off the California coast. Many of the sperm whales in the pod were left with “extensive injuries,” while one was killed, the study said.“Approximately 12 killer whales were initially involved in the hunt, but this number increased to an estimated 35 killer whales spread out over 3 km.
