Aditya Arora’s 2 stock picks in an overheated market
Aditya Arora, Adlytick, says he likes “Glenmark, a stock from the pharma space. Glenmark could be bought at Rs 823; Rs 780 should be the stop loss and Rs 900 should be the target. The second one from consumer basket space is Godrej Consumer Product, this could be bought at Rs 1040; Rs 1,009 should be the stop loss and Rs 1,080-1,100 the target.” Let us talk about Nifty, Bank Nifty levels for now because for the third day running, even if you take 21,000 levels to watch 20,900, that zone, the market is not witnessing a very big thrust. We go in that zone and then scale back. Same goes with Bank Nifty. Above 47,000, 47000 to 47,300, there is some amount of unwinding which is kicking in. What are you watching out for in terms of levels? The patterns are suggesting the same after the stellar rally of Bank Nifty from 43,500 to almost 47,800. Now, it seems a cool off could be ahead of us. A little profit-booking could be ahead of us. The market does not have a lot of steam at these levels and these levels are acting as stiff resistance. Call writers are pretty active at 47,700, 48,000. I think this is the resistance for the market. This is the hurdle for the market. Until 48,000 is not taken out on Bank Nifty, we can see some neutral market to let us say a profit booking zone, wherein we can see some connection of 1,000 to 1,500 points on Bank Nifty.

ITC is world's 3rd most valuable tobacco company after London-based BAT sinks
ITC, with a market cap of $67 billion (Rs 5.6 lakh crore), surpassed British American Tobacco Plc (BAT) to become the third most valuable tobacco company in the world. London-based BAT, which sells cigarettes, tobacco, and other nicotine products, has seen a sell-off in its shares in the past week, rendering its market cap below ITC to $64 billion. The stock fell sharply after the company said it would take a hit of around $31.5 billion as it wrote down the value of some US cigarette brands, acknowledging that its traditional combustible market has no long-term future. The evolving stricter regulations and growing awareness of health risks have been squeezing tobacco companies' traditional business lately, driving declines in cigarette volumes in some markets. US-listed Philip Morris International and Altria Group currently occupy the top spots above ITC as the two most valuable tobacco companies in the world. The cigarette segment is the mainstay for ITC, which is also into hotels, FMCG, and paper products businesses. In the recent second quarter, cigarette revenues grew 10% on year to Rs 7,658 crore. The business made up over 46% of the total revenue of ITC.

No COP28 consensus yet on climate change goals
DUBAI: Lack of progress on designing a framework for a global goal on adaptation, or measures taken by countries to live with and become more resilient to adverse impacts of climate change, could derail a successful conclusion to the COP28 climate talks. While emission reduction or mitigation has clear goals-the temperature target of well below 2C and pursuing efforts to limit the temperature increase to 1.5C, there are no comparable targets for adapting to impacts of climate change. The 2015 Paris Agreement addresses this gap through the decision to put in place a global goal that mirrors that for mitigation. Over 8 workshops and two years countries have been working to develop this framework, which countries are expected to agree to in Dubai.
