‘The Kashmir Files’ director gets into a spat with Twitter user who challenges him to make ‘Manipur Files’
Vivek Agnihotri, recently got into a war of words with a few Twitter users, who asked him to make a movie named ‘Manipur Files’. The director tweeted how the Indian judiciary was oblivious to the plight of the Kashmiri Pandits when one Twitter user challenged him to make a movie on the Kashmiri Pandits. “Make a movie called the ‘Manipur Files’, if you are man enough,” wrote a Twitter user named ‘Wandere Ali’. Agnihotri’s reply was polite but acerbic. Thanking the commenter for having faith in him, Agnihotri wrote, “Thanks for having so much faith in me. Par saari films mujhse hi banwaoge kya yaar? Tumhari ‘Team India’ mein koi ‘man enough’ filmmaker nahin hai kya?” (Why should I make all the films? Is no one from your ‘Team India’ man enough?) The reply got viral on the microblogging website. One user wrote, “Hahaha everyone has faith in you. That's the price you have to pay after making superb movies like #TheKashmirFiles, eagerly waiting for #thevaccinewar now.” Others accused the director of having a political agenda. One Twitter user wrote, “So you agree you are part of «Team NDA»? f someone (assuming a fan of your genuine work) requests you to present the real story of Manipur, you will target him & put a tag/label? Why not present the reality of Manipur & if u don't wanna do it, then don't target/label people!!!”

Indian billionaire Ravi Ruia buys Russian-linked London mansion for £113 million
Ravi Ruia bought a £113 million ($145 million) London mansion linked to Russian property investor Andrey Goncharenko in one of the UK capital’s biggest residential deals in recent years. The family office of Ruia, who co-owns investment firm Essar Group, purchased the Hanover Lodge mansion overlooking Regent’s Park at 150 Park Road this month through a sale of the home’s Gibraltar-incorporated holding company, according to a person familiar with the matter. The mansion was owned as recently as two years ago by Goncharenko, the former deputy chief executive officer of Gazprom Invest Yug, a subsidiary of the Russian state-run energy firm. He bought the property’s outstanding lease in 2012 from Conservative Party peer Rajkumar Bagri for £120 million, the person said. The property “is under construction and became available at a price which makes it an attractive investment for the family office,” William Rego, a spokesperson for the Ruia family office, said in an emailed statement. The deal was first reported by the Financial Times.

Gold swung between gains and losses; central bank meetings in focus for coming week
COMEX gold rose during the first half of the week as recent data from the US, particularly the CPI and retail sales, showed that price pressures are cooling, warranting a smaller Fed action than previously expected. Investors are now expecting the US Fed to hike rates by 25 bps in July and pushed back against any rate hikes in the September FOMC meeting. Data released on Tuesday showed that US retail sales and industrial production missed estimates, a potentially welcome sign for the Fed as it seeks to cool inflation.

How a Tiny Archipelago Gave Russian Ships a Foothold in the Atlantic
While Europe has worked hard to close security gaps since Russia invaded Ukraine, a tiny island group in the North Atlantic provides a loophole for Russian ships to fish and dock in its waters and ports, among them vessels accused of spying and sabotage. Western nations are growing increasingly wary of what’s going on in and around the Faroe Islands, a self-governing territory under the Kingdom of Denmark which has a longstanding fishing agreement with Moscow. The agreement lets Russian vessels call at Faroese ports, circumventing a ban from European Union ports.
